Nvidia's stock is up fifty-eight percent in the last year. The semiconductor index it belongs to is up one hundred and sixty-four percent. In our last briefing, we focused on Nvidia’s explosive growth, but this week the market is telling a different, more complicated story. So we have to ask: Is the giant starting to lag? Let’s look at the facts. The company just printed a quarter that defies gravity. Fiscal 2026 revenue hit a record two hundred fifteen point nine billion dollars. That's up sixty-five percent year-over-year. The first quarter of fiscal '27, which just closed? Eighty-one point six billion dollars.
Up eighty-five percent. The Data Center segment now accounts for ninety-one point five percent of the entire company. That's not a business unit. That's a dynasty. Gross margins are back to seventy-five percent. Free cash flow for the year was ninety-six point seven billion dollars. They returned forty-one billion to shareholders and just authorized another eighty billion in buybacks. They can buy back stock at the pace of a mid-cap company every single quarter... and not even break a sweat. And their grip on the market is absolute. Eighty, maybe ninety percent of all AI accelerators are Nvidia-made.
They're not just selling chips anymore. That’s the old story. They are now a data-center-scale AI infrastructure company. They're selling the whole rack. The GB200 NVL72 system integrates seventy-two Blackwell GPUs in a single liquid-cooled system. This isn't selling a component. This is selling the entire factory, locked in with two decades of CUDA software development. The switching costs are immense. So the business is a fortress. The numbers are bulletproof. Why is the stock lagging? Why are AMD and Intel outperforming it year-to-date? Because Wall Street is terrified. Three specific fears are holding this stock back.
First, customer concentration. Hyperscalers like Google, Amazon, and Meta are Nvidia’s biggest customers, but they’re also building their own custom silicon. They’re becoming competitors. Second, China. Export restrictions are a real threat. Beijing has not approved shipments of the new H200 chips, leaving a massive market—and a potential homegrown competitor—in limbo. Third, the bubble. Some analysts see valuation excess and are shouting "sell." One has a price target of one hundred dollars, less than half of today's price. But here’s what the short-term noise is missing. Here's what will matter in 2045.
At Computex today, Nvidia announced a new AI-powered personal computer. They’re pivoting. They are shifting from just supplying the AI boom to actively creating the next wave of demand. This isn't about data centers anymore. This is about putting AI on every corporate desk, triggering a massive hardware replacement cycle driven by productivity gains. While the market frets about valuation, Nvidia’s PEG ratio is zero point six eight. AMD's is one point zero nine. The numbers show Nvidia may actually be the better value relative to its growth. So what are we optimizing for? Short-term charts, or long-term dominance?
The risks are real. The hyperscaler threat is not trivial. But Nvidia is building a moat of system-level integration and software that gets deeper every quarter. For that reason, our recommendation is a HOLD. Our price target is two hundred and eighty dollars over the next twelve to eighteen months. The market is focused on who might stop buying Nvidia's chips. Nvidia is focused on building a world that can't run without them.
