Turn text into a podcast

Paste notes or an article in the iPhone app. Lissin writes a podcast, one voice or two. About 1,300 words fit. Longer than that, upload a PDF on Plus or Pro.

The short answer

Text to podcast starts as a paste. In the iPhone app the request holds 8,000 characters, about 1,300 words, and your instructions count toward that. A longer piece should be a PDF, uploaded on Plus or Pro. Ask for one narrator or two speakers.

How to do it

  1. Paste it into Create

Copy the notes, the article or the passage. The cap is 8,000 characters, and your instructions are part of that count. About 1,300 words. That's a short article, or one lecture's notes. It isn't a chapter.

  2. Say what you want done with it

"Walk me through this in order" keeps the shape. "Two hosts, one explains and one asks" makes a conversation. "Only the part I need for tomorrow's meeting" makes a briefing. Lissin writes a script. It won't read your text aloud word for word unless you ask.

  3. Use a file when it's too long

Save it as a PDF or a Word file and upload it on Plus or Pro. The article page covers links. The PDF page covers files. If a page is behind a login, paste the text you can already see. Lissin can't sign in for you.

Questions

How do I turn text into a podcast?
Paste it into Create in the iPhone app and say what the episode should do. There's no form on the website that does this by itself.
What's the character limit?
8,000 characters, about 1,300 words, and your instructions are part of that. Past that, upload a PDF or a Word file on Plus or Pro.
Can I start from notes?
Yes, on any plan. Say if the episode should stay inside the notes or fill gaps from the web. If you're revising a course, the lecture-notes page goes further.
Will it read my text word for word?
Only if you ask. Otherwise you get a shorter script, written to be spoken. If you need every sentence as written, use a text-to-speech reader.
Is pasting free?
Yes. Pasting is on the free plan: 50 minutes a week, episodes up to 10 minutes. Uploads and transcripts need Plus or Pro.
Can I make it on Android?
No. You paste it on iPhone, and the phone needs iOS 26 or later. There's no iPad app.

What this does not do

The paste stops at 8,000 characters, and your instructions count. Longer text needs a file upload on Plus or Pro. The episode interprets what you pasted, so check a quote before you repeat it. You make it on iPhone, iOS 26 or later. There's no iPad app, no Android app, and no RSS feed.
