About Lissin
What is Lissin?
Lissin is an iPhone app that creates personal audio shows made just for you.
Describe a topic, a question or a set of sources, and Lissin researches it, writes the script and voices it as a podcast, story, song or deep dive. Who is Lissin for?
Anyone curious about something no existing show covers the way they want it. That might be a niche subject, a story that keeps developing, a nightly bedtime story or a calming reflection.
You choose the length to fit the moment, whether that is a commute, a walk, cooking or a workout.
How does Lissin work?
- Describe what you want to hear and add any sources you want Lissin to use.
- Decide how it thinks and sounds, then choose a one-time episode or schedule a recurring show.
- Listen when it’s ready, then remix the episode or update the show anytime.
Lissin can follow YouTube channels, newsletters, websites, RSS feeds, subreddits, podcasts, X, Product Hunt and Hacker News, or work from a link, article, PDF, document or image you hand it.
How is Lissin different from a podcast app or NotebookLM?
A podcast app plays shows made for a wide audience. NotebookLM’s Audio Overview summarises the sources in one notebook. Lissin makes a show for one listener and keeps it going.
| Compared on | Podcast app | NotebookLM Audio Overview | Lissin |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starts from | A show someone else published | The sources in a notebook | A topic, a question or sources you choose |
| Made for | A broad audience | Understanding those sources | You, in the angle, voice and length you pick |
| New episodes | When the publisher releases one | When you generate another overview | Daily, weekly or every two weeks, picking up where the last one left off |
For working through documents with citations back into them, NotebookLM is the better tool. Lissin is for what you want to keep hearing about. Lissin and NotebookLM, compared in full
