An AI news briefing app built around what you follow
Name the stories, places and sources you follow. Lissin researches them, writes a spoken briefing and has it ready at the time you choose, with sources listed.
The short answer
Lissin is an iPhone app that makes a news briefing to your specification. Name the subjects, places and sources you follow, choose a length and a delivery time, and before each episode it searches for what changed, writes a spoken briefing and notifies you when it is ready. Every episode lists the sources it used.
How to set it up
Name the stories, not the section
"World news" gets you what every other app gives you. "EU energy prices, the Indian rupee and anything new from the Supreme Court, most important first" gets you a briefing nobody else publishes. Add what to leave out as well: exclusions work as instructions too.
Point it at sources you trust
Add the websites, RSS feeds, newsletters, subreddits, YouTube channels, Hacker News or Product Hunt you want watched. Lissin checks them alongside its own web research, so the briefing draws on your reading list.
Set the rhythm
Choose daily, weekdays, weekly or every two weeks, a length from 5 to 25 minutes depending on plan, and the time it should be ready. The show remembers what it has already covered, so the next episode picks up what changed instead of retelling the background.
Check the sources, then steer it
Open an episode's source list to review the pages it drew on. If the mix is off, say so in plain words, such as "less market chatter, more policy detail", and remix the show on Plus or Pro. Past episodes stay as they were, and future ones follow the new direction.

Questions
- How current is the briefing?
- It reflects what is published online when the episode is researched, shortly before the time you set. It is not a live feed: anything that breaks after that arrives in the next episode.
- Is it a podcast or an app?
- Both. Each briefing is a podcast-style audio episode made for you in the Lissin app. It is not listed in podcast directories and has no RSS feed, but you can share an episode as a web link.
- Can I try it free?
- Yes. The free plan makes one starter show with 50 minutes of audio a week. Daily and weekday delivery, transcripts and offline downloads come with Plus.
- What if the AI gets a fact wrong?
- It can. Each episode lists its sources, so check any name, number or date against the original before you repeat it or act on it, and remix the show if one source keeps causing trouble.
What this does not do
Lissin cannot read paywalled or login-only pages. A briefing that also researches the web carries on with the sources it can open; one limited to links you supplied stops with an error. Paste text you can read, or upload it on Plus or Pro. It is not a breaking-news alert service. Coverage of a small town or a niche subject is only as good as what is published about it online. Creating a show needs an iPhone on iOS 26 or later.
Make your own show, or hear a sample
Make a show from your topic or documents in the Lissin iPhone app (iOS 26 or later). Or listen to public shows in the web player without installing the app.
