A space news podcast about the missions you follow

Name the missions, agencies and telescopes you follow. Lissin researches what changed before each episode and writes a spoken space news briefing with its sources.

The short answer

Ask Lissin for a recurring show about the part of space you follow: "every Monday at 7, ten minutes on last week's launches, Artemis and Mars, then one astronomy result explained". Before each episode it searches the web for what changed and writes a spoken briefing with its sources. Launch dates slip, so it gives the latest date it found.

How to set it up

  1. Name the missions, not just "space"

"Space news" gets you the week's biggest headlines. "Artemis, ESA's Mars work, Starship test flights and new results from the James Webb telescope" gets you a show about those. Say what to leave out too: "skip satellite-internet business news".

  2. Pick a rhythm that matches the news

Space news comes in bursts around launches and published results, so a weekly episode on Monday morning is often enough. Choose daily or weekdays if you follow launches closely. Daily delivery needs Plus.

  3. Ask for the explanation along with the result

An audio briefing cannot show a telescope image, so ask it to explain instead: "for each discovery, say what the instrument measured and why that matters, in plain words".

  4. Point it at sources you trust

Name NASA, ESA, a mission's own blog or a space news site you read, or add links to them, and Lissin uses them alongside its own search. Each episode lists the sources it used, so you can open the original.

Questions

Will it tell me when a launch is about to happen?
No. Episodes are made on your schedule, so there are no countdowns or alerts at liftoff. On launch day, check the launch provider's own site for the current time.
Can it follow one mission for months?
Yes. Make a show about that mission alone. The show remembers what it has already covered, so each episode picks up what changed instead of retelling the background.
Can I listen in my podcast app?
A show you make plays in the Lissin app or from a shared web link. It has no RSS feed for Overcast, Apple Podcasts or Spotify.

What this does not do

It knows only what was published online when the episode was made, so a scrub or a launch after that waits for the next episode, and there are no live alerts. Launch dates move often; treat a stated date as the latest schedule found, not a promise. It cannot show mission or telescope images. Creating a show needs an iPhone on iOS 26 or later, and daily delivery needs a paid plan.
