Anthropic just announced Claude Mythos, what it calls its most powerful model yet, and immediately gave early access to cybersecurity researchers. Within days, OpenAI countered with GPT-5.4-Cyber, a new variant of its flagship model fine-tuned for defensive cybersecurity. The race is no longer just about general intelligence. It’s about who can build the best digital immune system. That wasn’t OpenAI’s only move. On April sixteenth, it launched GPT-Rosalind, a model built specifically for life sciences. Partners like Amgen, Moderna, and Thermo Fisher are already using it to accelerate drug discovery, moving AI from a chatbot to a lab partner.

The money behind this is scaling even faster. The AI industry raised 297 billion dollars in the first quarter of 2026 alone.
