Most of your life will be lived on a Tuesday. Not on a stage, not at a finish line, but on a regular, unremarkable day just like this one. In episode 161, we talked about finding an anchor in the fog of uncertainty. Today is about finding that anchor when the fog has lifted… and the landscape is just… normal. The world tells you to want more. To be more. It celebrates the highlight reel. But the real work, the real strength, is found right here. In the quiet, unglamorous, completely ordinary present. So, here are five affirmations for THIS day.
Not for the day you hope for, but for the one you actually have. Here's the first one. Say it with me. My feet are on the floor. This is real. Feel it. The solid ground beneath you. It’s holding you up. It has been all along. You don't need to float. You don't need to fly. You just need to be where you are. Your breath is moving in and out. That is ALSO real. It’s an automatic, faithful rhythm. This moment isn't a problem to be solved. It’s a fact. And for right now, you can just let it be a fact. Simple. Solid. True. Okay, here’s the second. My to-do list is a river, not a mountain.
You will never, EVER conquer it. You will never stand on top of it and plant a flag. And that is not a personal failure. It’s the nature of life. It flows. Some days the current is fast, some days it’s slow. Your only job is to step into the water and handle what’s in front of you. You are not meant to empty the river. You are meant to move with it. Let go of the need to see the bottom. Just swim. Third. This one is about other people. I can be a quiet point of kindness. This doesn't mean you have to save anyone. It doesn't mean you have to have the perfect answer or a grand gesture.
It just means you can hold the door. You can make eye contact and nod. You can let someone merge in traffic without a fight. You can be the one person today who DOESN’T add to the noise, to the pressure, to the rush. Your presence can be a small, quiet space of peace for someone else. Even for just a second. That is a powerful, achievable thing. Number four. This is for when the day feels boring. There is peace in the predictable. The same mug for your coffee. The same route to work. The same sound of the house settling at night. We are trained to see this as a trap.
A rut. But what if it’s a foundation? What if that rhythm is a source of profound stability? The sun came up today. It will set tonight. Your heart is beating. These are not boring things. They are reliable things. And in a world that feels so shaky, reliability is a GRACE. Lean into it. Let the rhythm hold you. And finally. The most important one. I do not have to be more than I am, right now. You don’t have to be more productive, more enlightened, more successful, or more put-together than you are in this exact moment. You are enough for this moment.
You have always been enough for the present moment. The person you are right now is the only person who can live this day. Let that person be enough. Let yourself, right here, be enough. No upgrades required. The future is a story you’re about to write. The past is a story you’ve already told. This moment, right here, with your feet on the floor and the air in your lungs… this is the only thing that’s real. This is the only thing you can actually hold. So hold it.
