Your brain is building about seven hundred new neurons today. Right now. Mostly in the hippocampus, the part of your mind that handles learning and memory. In episode 152, we talked about affirmations grounded in what's real, not hype. Well, here is the raw material of that reality. You are physically rebuilding your mind every single day. So the question isn't if you can change. It's what you're changing into. Today is about directing that change. It's about giving those new neurons a job to do. Here are five truths to build on. Not wishes. Truths. First. Remember what it felt like to learn to ride a bike?

Or speak a new language? That initial phase is ALL awkwardness. You fall. You mispronounce words. Your body and mind are charting new territory, and the first maps are always messy. This is not a sign of failure. It's the physical feeling of your brain forging new connections. It is the feeling of growth itself. So when you feel that clumsiness today, trying something new, say this: My awkwardness is the price of admission for growth. I am not failing; I am learning in public. Second. We’re taught to see mistakes as defects. Something to hide or erase. But think about Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the cracks with gold.

The break isn't hidden. It's illuminated. It becomes part of the object's history, a source of its unique beauty. Your mistakes are the same. They are not shameful cracks in your facade. They are fractures that, when examined and mended with intention, make you stronger and more resilient than you were before. They are data. So, for the mistake you already made today, or the one you will inevitably make later: My mistakes are not dead ends. They are data. I will use what I learned today to be better tomorrow. Third. Walk into a forest after a storm. The trees that broke were the most rigid ones.

The ones that stand tall are the ones that knew how to bend with the wind. Rigidity is fragility. Your plans, your expectations, your idea of how the day should go… they are all brittle. Life is the storm. Your ability to bend, to adapt, to find a new path around the fallen log—that is your strength. It is the core of your resilience. Here's the thing: You will be interrupted today. Your plan will break. My strength is not in my resistance to change, but in my ability to adapt to it. I bend so I do not break. Fourth. No expert arrived fully formed. The master musician still practices scales.

The brilliant writer still produces terrible first drafts. Their expertise is a quiet accumulation of thousands of small corrections, tiny adjustments, and endless hours spent on the fundamentals. They aren't "done." They are simply committed to the process. You don't see the scales, you see the concert. But the work is in the scales. So release yourself from the tyranny of the finished product. The real work, the real joy, is in the practice. I am not a final product. I am a work in progress, and I find joy in the process of becoming. And finally, fifth. Your desk is messy. Your mind is full of doubt.

Your project is half-finished. Then you scroll through a feed and see everyone else's polished victories. Their perfect launches. Their finished masterpieces. You are comparing your entire, messy, complex reality to their single, curated highlight. It’s an unwinnable game. Stop playing. Your journey is not theirs. Your pace is not theirs. Your struggles are the invisible work that makes your own eventual highlights possible. So, put the phone down and tell yourself: My path is my own. I honor my own pace and release the need to compare my journey to anyone else's. You are not building yourself from a fixed blueprint.

That's not how human growth works. A blueprint implies there's a 'finished' state, a point where the work is done and you can finally be unveiled. That is a complete fantasy. Think of it more like sculpting. You don't add perfection to a block of marble. You chip away the excess. You uncover the form that was already waiting inside. Every mistake, every false start, every moment of doubt is just a chip of stone on the studio floor. It's not a failure of the statue. It's EVIDENCE of the work. It is proof that the artist is present, and the work is happening. Most people are waiting for a version of themselves that is finally 'ready.' Polished.

Complete. That person does not exist. The person who acts, who learns, who adapts—that's the one who gets things done. You’re not waiting to become that person. You already ARE.
