Ten minutes. That's all it takes for scrolling through someone else's life to tank your own self-esteem. In our last episode, we talked about the courage it takes to truly risk being seen. But comparison is the opposite of being seen—it’s hiding your own light so you can squint at someone else’s. It poisons connection before it can even start. So today, we're not just talking about it. We are doing something about it. We are going to replace the habit of comparison with the practice of self-possession. These are the words for it. Find a quiet space. Take a breath. Let’s begin.

Here’s the first truth. Say it with me. My highlight reel is not their behind-the-scenes. Breathe that in. You are comparing your messy, complicated, real-time process—the doubts, the wrong turns, the days you can barely get out of bed—with a curated, filtered, finished product. You’re comparing your rough draft to their published book. You don’t see the pages they threw away. You don’t see the tear-stains on the manuscript or the years they spent staring at a blank screen. You only see the victory lap. You have a cutting room floor filled with scenes that didn't make it.

So do they. Everyone does. So the next time you see a perfect photo or a triumphant announcement, I want you to whisper this to yourself: "I see your highlight. I honor my whole story." Your journey is not less valuable because it's unedited. It's MORE valuable because it's real. Okay. The second one. This is for anyone who feels like they are running behind. My timeline is not broken. It is MINE. You are not late. You are not early. You are exactly on time for your own life. Think of it like a forest. The ferns unfurl in early spring. The wild roses bloom in the heat of June.

The oak trees don't even think about dropping their acorns until the first chill of autumn. Is the rose "late" compared to the fern? Is the oak "failing" because it's not a rose? The question is absurd. Each one is following its own perfect, internal clock. You have your own clock. Your friend’s promotion, your cousin’s wedding, that stranger’s startup success… that is their season. It has absolutely nothing to do with yours. Your season of blooming is coming. Or maybe it’s happening right now, in a way you haven't learned to recognize yet. Trust your timing. It is unfolding exactly as it should.

Here’s the third. This one is about your specific power. No one can compete with me on being me. Think about it. The unique combination of your experiences, your heartbreaks, your joys, your weird sense of humor, the skills you've fought for, the kindness you've cultivated... that is a formula that has never existed before and will never exist again. It is your unique genius. Someone else might be a better painter. Someone else might be a faster runner. Someone else might close more deals. But NO ONE can bring your exact blend of insight, empathy, and resilience to the table.

That is your uncontested territory. The world doesn't need another copy of someone else. It desperately needs the original that is YOU. Stop trying to win their game. Start playing your own. You are the only one who can. Number four. This is about how you measure progress. My only benchmark is who I was yesterday. That's it. That is the only fair comparison you can ever make. Put down the binoculars you're using to watch everyone else's race. You're not even on the same track. Turn around and look at the mountain you've already climbed. Look at the person you were one year ago.

Five years ago. Think of a fear you've overcome. A skill you've learned. A painful situation you survived. You did that. That growth is real. It is earned. And it has NOTHING to do with anyone else's journey. Your progress isn't measured by how you stack up against them. It's measured by the distance you've traveled from your own starting line. Honor that distance. It is SACRED ground. And finally. The one that holds all the others up. My worth is not up for debate. It is not a stock price that goes up with achievements and down with failures. It is not a competition you can win or lose.

Your inherent value as a human being was settled the moment you took your first breath. It is a constant. It is the bedrock. It cannot be increased by a promotion or diminished by a rejection. It is simply, unshakably, there. When you truly get this, deep in your bones, the urge to compare begins to dissolve. Because why would you compare something that is complete? Why would you measure something that is infinite? You are already enough. You were always enough. You will always be enough. Go into your day knowing this. Not just thinking it, but KNOWING it. Your worth is a fact, not a feeling.

Live from that place.
