Up to ninety percent of people who endure a major crisis report at least one positive change in their lives afterward. Not in spite of the crisis. Because of it. In our last episode, we talked about building strength with grounded affirmations. Today is about the strength that grows in the cracks—the kind you can only find on the other side of something hard. You're going to look in the mirror today and you might see the lines of worry, the shadow of a long night. The instinct is to wish them away. To want smooth, unbroken surfaces.

Don't. Today, we're trying something different. Here's the first thing to tell yourself, and I want you to say it like you mean it. My scars are not signs of what broke me. They are maps of where I have healed. There is a Japanese art called Kintsugi. When a piece of pottery breaks, they don't throw it away. They mend it with lacquer mixed with powdered gold. The finished piece isn't just repaired; it's transformed. The lines of the break become part of its beauty, shimmering with gold. It's more valuable because it was broken and put back together.

That's you. Those aren't flaws. They are gold seams. They are proof that you are not fragile. You are resilient. You were broken, and you put yourself back together, and you are more beautiful for it. So say it again. My scars prove I survived. They prove I can heal. Okay. Next. Sometime today, you are going to get something wrong. It's a statistical certainty. You'll say the wrong thing, or make the wrong choice, or miss a detail. And your brain is going to scream "Failure!" at you. You have to be ready with the answer. I will not get everything right today.

That is not a failure. It is data. Think about a rocket heading to the moon. You think it flies in a perfect, straight line? No. It's off course ninety-nine percent of the time. The entire journey is a series of tiny, constant corrections. Burn a little here, adjust the angle there. It gets to its destination not by being perfect, but by being relentlessly adaptable. Your mistakes are not indictments. They are course corrections. That email you sent that landed wrong? Data. The project that didn't work? More data. It’s all just information for the next move.

It has no power over your worth. It’s just a signal telling you to adjust your trajectory. So when it happens—and it will—take a breath and say it. This is not a dead end. It is a redirect. And finally, there's the big one. Fear. It's probably already sitting with you this morning. A quiet hum of anxiety about the day ahead. A loud roar about a specific meeting, a difficult conversation, a choice you have to make. We're taught to be fearless. What a lie. That's not the goal. Here is the truth you will live by today. My fear does not have veto power.

It gets a voice, but it does not get a vote. Imagine you are driving a car. Fear is in the passenger seat. And it is a terrible passenger. It's yelling about traffic, pointing out every potential pothole, convinced you're about to crash. You can't just kick it out of the car—it's part of the journey. But you do not have to let it grab the steering wheel. You can say, "I hear you. Thanks for the input. Now watch me drive." Your fear is a compass pointing to what you care about. You're afraid of failing the presentation because you care about your work.

You're afraid of being vulnerable because you care about connection. It's just a signal. Acknowledge it. And then do the thing you care about anyway. I can be afraid and still act. I can be uncertain and still move forward. So here's the thing that's different today. Yesterday, you might have believed that resilience was something you had to build from scratch. A superpower you had to earn. That's not it. You're not starting from zero. The evidence of your resilience is the simple fact that you are here. Right now. Listening to this.

After everything you've been through. All the breaks, all the mistakes, all the fear. You're still here. That's not an accident. That's your nature. Resilience isn't the absence of difficulty. It's the movement through difficulty. And you have been moving your entire life. The work today is not to become strong. It is to finally, truly, and deeply trust the strength that has already carried you this far. Go use it.
