Wherever you are right now, just allow yourself to arrive. If you’re sitting, feel the weight of your body in the chair. If you’re lying down, feel the support of the surface beneath you. Let your shoulders soften, away from your ears. And take one slow, easy breath. In through your nose… and out through your mouth. Just letting the day fall away. Your brain uses about twenty percent of your body’s total energy. And it has one primary goal for that energy: to be as efficient as possible. It builds shortcuts, these deep neural pathways, for everything you do on repeat.

It automates your life to save power. So when something unexpected happens… when a routine is broken, a plan falls through, or a person leaves… your brain registers that as a threat. An error. And it sounds an alarm. That alarm doesn’t feel like a thought, does it? It feels like a knot in your stomach. A tightness in your chest. A deep, unshakable exhaustion that doesn't make any sense. And our first instinct is to get angry with ourselves for feeling it. We think, I should be handling this better.

I should be stronger than this. We treat the feeling of resistance as proof that we’re failing. Here's what that means if you're in the middle of a change you didn't ask for. That discomfort… that anxiety… that feeling of being completely overwhelmed… is not a sign that you are weak. It is the literal, physical sensation of your brain doing one of the hardest things it can do. It is burning energy to carve new pathways. It is rewiring itself, in real time, for a new reality. That feeling you're trying so hard to push away is not a signal that something is wrong.

It is the feeling of growth itself. It is the friction of becoming. You are not breaking down. You are breaking open. So for just a moment, what if you stopped fighting? What if you could let go of the rope in that internal tug-of-war? You don’t have to like the change. You don’t have to welcome it. But maybe… you can just allow the feeling. You can make a little room for it. Take another slow breath in. And as you breathe out, imagine you are creating space inside your chest. Not pushing the feeling out, but giving it a little room to be.

Space for the uncertainty to exist without needing an immediate answer. Space for the new roads in your mind to form, without you needing to rush the construction. There is a strength in this softness. A power in this surrender. You are simply allowing your own brilliant mind and resilient heart to do what they do best: adapt. You are not falling apart. You are simply rearranging yourself into a stronger shape.
