The River of Time

The sun comes up on a weary wire Sends the news through rain and fire I tune my strings by the morning light To sing the stories of the day and night Another page in the book is turned For a lesson old, and newly learned.

Oh, the river of time, it flows and it bends The stories start over, they never do end Same old hopes and the same old fears Just different names to mark the years Just different names to mark the years. They're building minds in glowing rooms

With silent thoughts and humming looms A new-made god or a clever tool To break the chains or change the rule? From silicon valleys, the whisper streams Of automated worlds and digital dreams. Oh, the river of time, it flows and it bends

The stories start over, they never do end Same old hopes and the same old fears Just different names to mark the years Just different names to mark the years.
