This Morning's Ballad

Of two old rivals, and a fight to come Under summer skies, a challenge and a dare Joe and Donald will take the stage in June To sing their verses to a nation's tune Oh, the headlines spin a story new and bold But it's the same old ballad, bought and sold

Of pride and power, of the wind and rain Just a travelling storyteller's old refrain The price of music, and a concert seat Brought a giant tumbling to the street The Justice Department, with a heavy hand Said one king's ruled for too long in the land

Oh, the headlines spin a story new and bold But it's the same old ballad, bought and sold Yeah, the ink is new but the tale is old and worn Another page is turned, another day is born
