Good morning. Sometimes the day ahead can feel like a mountain to climb. Just yesterday, we talked about finding peace in a noisy mind. But that peace isn't just about finding quiet. It's also about finding the strength to face the noise, to climb that mountain that stands before you today. There's a short, powerful verse that speaks right to the heart of this. It comes from the apostle Paul, in his letter to the church at Philippi. Chapter four, verse thirteen. He writes: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Let's sit with that for a moment. It’s a verse many of us have heard before.
Maybe you've seen it on a coffee mug or a poster. But when we really hear it, when we let it sink in, it changes things. The first part... "I can do all things." That can sound a little intimidating. It sounds like a command to be a superhero. Does it mean you can suddenly run a marathon without training, or solve a problem at work that no one else can? Not exactly. The "all things" here isn't about gaining superpowers. It's about all the things you are actually called to face today. The difficult conversation. The deadline that feels impossible. The patience you need to find for a family member. The simple act of getting out of bed when you feel worn down.
THOSE are the "all things." The real, ordinary, and sometimes difficult tasks of your life. And here is what that means for you, right now, at the start of this day. It means you don't have to look at that list of tasks and feel overwhelmed. You don't have to wonder if you have enough energy, or wisdom, or courage in your own reserves. Because the second part of the verse is where the real comfort lies. "...through Christ who strengthens me." The strength isn't yours to begin with. It doesn't come from your own willpower. It's a gift. It's a power that flows TO you, and THROUGH you. It’s not something you have to manufacture on your own.
You just have to be open to receiving it. Think of it like this. Imagine your soul is a lamp. A lamp can't produce its own light. It has to be plugged in to a source of power. On its own, it’s just glass and wire. But when it's connected, it can light up a whole room. Paul is saying that we are the lamp. We aren't meant to be the power source. Our job isn't to generate the light. Our job is just to stay plugged in. So when you look at the day ahead, at that mountain you have to climb, the question isn't, "Am I strong enough?" The question is, "Am I connected to the one who is?" This changes everything.
It takes the pressure off. The focus shifts from your own ability, which can feel very limited some days, to God's ability, which is limitless. Your weakness is no longer a disqualification. In fact, it's the very place where His strength can show up most clearly. It’s in those moments when you know you CANNOT do it on your own that you are most ready to receive the strength that is being offered. So as you step into this day, carry this verse not as a burden to be more, but as a promise. A promise that you will be given what you need for the tasks you are meant to do. The strength for that meeting.
The grace for that relationship. The endurance for that long afternoon. It is already available to you. You only need to turn to the source. Remember that you are not being asked to climb the mountain in your own power. You are simply being invited to walk, step by step, with the one who holds all strength in his hands. And with Him, you can do all things.
