Yesterday, we spoke about finding a quiet space for faith to settle in our hearts. Today, we turn to a promise not of quiet, but of strength for the noise that is sure to come. From the book of Isaiah, chapter forty-one, verse ten. “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Let’s sit with that for a moment. It’s one of the most powerful promises in all of scripture. And it’s broken into pieces we can hold onto throughout our day. The first part is a command, but it’s a gentle one.

“Fear not.” It’s not a rebuke for being afraid. God knows our hearts. He knows we get scared. Scared of a diagnosis, or a difficult conversation. Scared of a bill we can’t pay, or a future we can’t see. The command isn’t “stop being afraid.” It’s followed by a reason… “for I am with you.” That is the foundation for everything else. The fear doesn’t have to vanish instantly. But its power is broken by a new reality. The reality of His presence. Here's what that means for you this morning. If you are waking up with a knot of anxiety in your stomach… you are not facing it alone.

His presence isn’t a metaphor. It is as real as the air you are breathing. You can feel the fear, and at the exact same time, know that He is with you in it. Then comes the next piece. “Be not dismayed, for I am your God.” Dismay is different from fear. Dismay is that sinking feeling when you look at your to-do list, or the challenges ahead, and you just feel… overwhelmed. It’s the feeling of being small and powerless in the face of something big. And the answer to that feeling is not “try harder.” The answer is a reminder of identity. Not just your identity, but His.

“I am your God.” That’s a personal claim. The creator of the universe, the one who holds the stars, is positioning Himself in direct relationship to you. Here's what that means if you feel overwhelmed today. The size of your problem is not the final word. The identity of your God is. When you feel small, remember you belong to someone infinitely big. Someone who has named Himself your God. It changes the entire equation. And then, He gives three specific promises. Three “I will” statements. This is where the comfort becomes concrete action. “I will strengthen you.” This is for the moment you feel weak.

When your energy is gone, when your patience is worn thin, when you don’t think you can take another step. He doesn’t just offer encouragement. He offers a direct infusion of His strength into your weakness. “I will help you.” This is for the moment you feel stuck. When you don’t know the answer, or you can’t see the path forward. He doesn’t just point the way. He comes alongside to work on the problem with you. He is your help. And finally… “I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” This is the most beautiful image. Upholding you. It’s what you do for a child learning to walk.

It’s what you do for a friend who is about to fall. It’s a promise of total support. His hand—His strong, steady, righteous hand—is holding you up. You are not carrying the weight of this day by yourself. You are being carried through it. So as you step into whatever this day holds… the meetings, the errands, the worries, the joys… remember this. You are not walking alone. You are not relying on your own strength. And you are not in danger of falling. His hand is not just a promise for someday. It is a reality for right now.
