(Jaunty, frantic piano intro begins) The week began, a hopeful tune, Beneath a hazy D.C. moon. A bill was read, a promise sworn, Then someone tweeted late that morn. The chyron flashed, the pundits screamed, It wasn't anything we'd dreamed. The spin machines began to whir, And everything became a blur. (Orchestra swells, full cast joins in with forced smiles) Oh, it's the Friday Political Follies!
Another act in this mad play! We read our lines, we hit our marks, and wonder what the heck to say! From breaking news to legal woes, That's just the way the story goes! Strike up the band, it's one more week of these Political Follies! (Tempo picks up, more staccato, brass stabs) By Wednesday, sides were clearly drawn, All common sense was dead and gone. A hearing held for show and tell, While ratings soared and polls just fell. He said a thing, she called it lies,
With shocked and deeply wounded eyes. They quoted laws from distant days, Lost in a self-important, looping haze. (Even bigger, more dramatic, a few dancers trip on purpose) Oh, it's the Friday Political Follies! Another act in this mad play! We read our lines, we hit our marks, and wonder what the heck to say! From filibusters to TV feuds, In all their baffling platitudes! Strike up the band, it's one more week of these Political Follies! (Music softens to a single, hesitant piano. A lone actor stands in a spotlight, looking at the audience in disbelief)

I'm just a player on this stage, Trapped in a gilded, news-fed cage. Is this a tragedy or farce? I can't believe we've let it get this far... (Music explodes into a grand, key-changed finale. Full cast, jazz hands, desperate grins) OH, IT'S THE FRIDAY POLITICAL FOLLIES! THE FINAL ACT OF THIS MAD PLAY!
WE'LL SING IT LOUD, AND PRAY THE CROWD FORGETS IT ALL BY SATURDAY! The votes are cast, the damage done, Beneath a slowly setting sun! The curtain falls, take one last bow, for the Political Follies... for now! (Final, crashing chord and cymbal hit)
