Reliance Industries just pledged one hundred and ten billion dollars towards AI infrastructure. That’s not a typo. Last week on the show, we talked about game-changing funding rounds, but this is something else entirely—this is nation-building scale capital. That’s the big one, but it’s not the only move. Apple’s WWDC is happening right now, and they just completely rebuilt Siri with a new AI that has personal context and can control actions across your apps. It’s a sign of where the entire global ecosystem is headed, and Indian developers are watching closely. Meanwhile, PhonePe just launched its Indus Appstore. This is a direct shot at Google’s Playstore dominance. They’re offering it in twelve Indian languages, with zero platform fees or commissions on in-app payments for the first year.

It’s a massive play to build a truly “Made-in-India” app distribution channel. And yes, the venture funding pipeline is still flowing. GrowthPal, an AI platform for M&A, just pulled in two-point-six million dollars, and Wint Wealth secured two-hundred-fifty crore rupees for its debt investment platform. So the classic startup engine is still running. But let’s go back to that number. One hundred and ten billion. Because it’s not just Reliance. Adani Enterprises committed one hundred billion by 2035. Google’s Sundar Pichai announced a fifteen-billion-dollar AI hub in Visakhapatnam. Tata just partnered with OpenAI to scale up AI-ready data centers. And Microsoft confirmed its data center investments will blow past the three billion dollars they already had planned through 2026.

This isn't a trend. It's a coordinated, all-out capital blitz. What we're seeing is the private sector essentially deciding to build India’s next generation of infrastructure, and it’s all built around AI. Think of it less like a series of investments and more like a pincer movement. On one side, you have this tidal wave of corporate cash from Reliance, Adani, Tata, and the global giants. On the other side, you have the government. The IndiaAI Mission is adding twenty thousand new GPUs to the country’s sovereign compute capacity, bringing the total to nearly sixty thousand. And quietly, a dozen government-backed startups have started building India’s own foundational AI models. One of them has already raised over one hundred million dollars.

They aren't just buying the tech; they're trying to build it from the ground up. Soooo what's the catch? Because there's always a catch. Well, two things are happening in the shadows of these mega-deals. First, the regulators are getting nervous. The Ministry of Electronics and IT is talking about forcing platforms to label all AI-generated content. Marketers and creative agencies are... not thrilled. They see it as a potential brake on innovation just as things are getting started. And second, there’s the human cost. Even as all this money pours in to build the future, the present is getting shaky for some. Infosys—one of the country’s biggest recruiters of new engineers—just announced it's cutting back on hiring freshers.

Puneet Chandok from Microsoft said it himself: upskilling will shape future jobs. The subtext there is that the old jobs, the ones that built the first wave of India's IT dominance, are changing. Or disappearing. So you have this incredible explosion of investment happening at the exact same time as this deep uncertainty about regulation and employment. It’s not a contradiction. It’s the price of admission. This isn’t just about building data centers or launching new apps. It’s a fundamental rewiring of the economy in real time. And we’re all living inside the machine while the engineers are swapping out the engine.
