Sarvam AI just closed a three hundred million dollar funding round, valuing the company at one-point-five billion dollars. Yesterday, on episode one hundred, we talked about Sarvam's power move, and today we have the details—and they are WAY bigger than we knew. This isn't just a big check; it's a strategic play by Nvidia to plug directly into India's sovereign AI stack. And that's just the start. While Sarvam was closing its mega-round, another Nvidia-backed player, Volta Infra, just announced a TEN billion dollar deal with the AI firm Anthropic. That’s a six-year cloud computing contract. Ten billion. Let that sink in. Meanwhile, the government is also making moves. SIDBI, the Small Industries Development Bank of India, just relaxed its fund rules for venture capitalists.
This could significantly speed up funding for early-stage startups, unblocking a pipeline that’s been a little sticky. And the deals keep flowing downstream. An AI startup called Kily raised about three-point-six million dollars to build what they call 'autonomous commerce management' software. Think AI agents running the backend for D2C brands. And speaking of brands, Nykaa just bought a fifty-one percent stake in the skincare brand Aminu for about three-point-eight million, continuing its push to own the entire beauty ecosystem. Okay, let's go back to the two big ones: Sarvam AI and Volta Infra. Because on the surface, they look like two separate, massive deals. But if you look closer, they're two sides of the SAME coin, and Nvidia is the one flipping it.
Here's the thing. For years, we've thought of Nvidia as a hardware company. They sell the GPUs, the picks and shovels for the AI gold rush. That's not what's happening anymore. Nvidia is now in the business of building entire ecosystems. Let's start with Sarvam. Getting a check from Nvidia is one thing. But the reporting says Nvidia is specifically integrating into India's 'sovereign AI stack.' What does that even mean? It means building AI infrastructure that's controlled domestically. Data centers on Indian soil, models trained on Indian data, for Indian use cases. It's a national security and economic priority. And instead of just selling India the chips to do it, Nvidia is now an equity partner IN the company building it.
They get a seat at the table. They get to shape the architecture from the ground up. This isn't a sale. It's a PARTNERSHIP. Now, look at Volta Infra. Also backed by Nvidia. They aren't just building some app. They're building the physical 'AI factories' themselves. Their ten billion dollar deal with Anthropic—one of the biggest AI labs in the world—is to provide the raw computing power they need in Europe. Volta is also launching a five-billion-dollar program to finance these AI factories. So you have Sarvam building the foundational models and the operating system for India's sovereign AI... and you have Volta building the physical infrastructure to run it all. And who's the common thread, the strategic investor in BOTH?
Nvidia. This is a fundamental shift in strategy. Nvidia is no longer just a supplier. It's becoming the central bank AND the chief architect for national AI ambitions around the world. And right now, its focus is squarely on India. So when you see these massive headlines—three hundred million here, ten billion there—it’s easy to just see it as more money flooding the system. But that’s not the real story. The real story is that the very infrastructure of AI is being built right now, and the map isn't being drawn in Silicon Valley alone. Companies like Sarvam and Volta are putting India at the center of that map. And the moves being made this week aren't just about securing the next fiscal year. They're about securing the next DECADE of technological sovereignty.
