Both audiences get angrier. Everybody wins, except maybe, you know, civil discourse.

But who was watching that show anyway? It’s also the oldest trick in the talk-radio playbook. Read the hate mail on air. Turn your critics into unpaid cast members. The difference is, the old shock jocks were a monologue. Hasan’s stream is a dialogue. It’s him, his audience of fifty-three thousand people, and the enemy all in one chaotic, hilarious group chat.
