Broadcom's AI chip revenue just jumped one hundred and forty-three percent year-over-year. To nearly eleven billion dollars. In a single quarter. Last time we talked about the US pushing for critical minerals — well, today we see exactly why that matters. The demand isn't just growing, it's exploding. And one company is absolutely printing money from it. Okay, here’s what else is moving. The entire market took a hit yesterday. The Dow fell over one hundred eighty points, with the S&P and Nasdaq also sliding. The trigger? Fading hopes for a US-Iran deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. That geopolitical tension, plus new warnings from the Fed's Beth Hammack that it may take more than one rate hike to cool inflation, put a chill on everything. Big Tech stocks like Alphabet, Apple, and Amazon all felt that pressure.

And speaking of pressure, Intel just made a twenty-billion-dollar bet on itself. The company massively upsized its stock offering, pricing over two hundred million shares at ninety-five dollars each. They're raising all that cash for one reason: to pour it directly into expanding their AI chip contract manufacturing business. The offering closes today, and it's one of the biggest capital raises you'll see. Meanwhile, ON Semiconductor also just posted strong results, with its own AI data center business showing rapid growth. And the Black Hat cybersecurity conference just wrapped up in the US, with a major focus on the new security challenges being created by… you guessed it, artificial intelligence. There’s a theme here. So let's go back to the two chip giants, Broadcom and Intel.

Because you're watching two completely different strategies for the same gold rush, playing out in real time. First, Broadcom. Their numbers are just staggering. That ten-point-eight billion in AI revenue for the second quarter? That was driven by just six huge customers — think Google, Meta, Anthropic, and OpenAI. Anthropic ALONE placed a ten billion dollar order. And Broadcom thinks this is just the start. They're guiding for over two hundred percent growth in Q-THREE, to sixteen billion dollars. And here’s the line that should stop you in your tracks. CEO Hock Tan said on the record that he expects AI semiconductor revenue to top one hundred billion dollars in fiscal 2027. That’s more than the company’s entire revenue over the last twelve months. They believe the AI business alone will become bigger than their entire company is today.

The only risk? It all depends on a handful of giant customers. If one of them pulls back, that forecast gets shaky. Now, look at Intel. While Broadcom is selling custom-designed shovels to a few specific gold miners, Intel is trying to become the entire hardware store for the whole town. That twenty-billion-dollar stock offering isn't about designing a single new chip. It's about building the factories — the foundries — so they can make chips for EVERYONE. It's a massive, capital-intensive bet that they can catch up and become the contract manufacturer of choice. And here's the catch: Intel's stock actually dropped more than four percent when they announced this. Investors are nervous. They see the dilution from all the new shares, and they know building chip fabs is brutally expensive.

So you have Broadcom, reaping massive profits RIGHT NOW from a concentrated set of customers. And you have Intel, taking on massive debt to build capacity for a future they hope to capture. This isn't a forecast anymore. It's the balance sheet. The money is moving, the factories are being funded, and the numbers are getting too big to ignore. The race isn't coming. It's already here, and it's being priced in tens of billions of dollars at a time.
