ChatGPT scheduled tasks or Lissin for a daily briefing
ChatGPT's scheduled tasks post a written result and a notification on a schedule. Lissin makes a spoken episode on your topics. Limits, plans and which job each fits.
The short answer
ChatGPT's scheduled tasks run a prompt once or on a schedule and post the result in ChatGPT, with a push or email notification. They suit reminders, checks and short written updates. For a briefing, Lissin does one narrower job: a researched, spoken episode on the subjects you name, made on your schedule for listening rather than reading.
How to choose
Use ChatGPT for reminders and checks
A task can remind you of something, watch for a change and notify you, or, on paid plans, react to a new Gmail message, Slack post or GitHub pull request. Lissin does none of that. If what you want is a nudge or an alert, use the task.
Check the limits on your plan
OpenAI caps active tasks at 3 on Free and Go, 5 on Plus, 10 on Business and Edu, and 15 on Pro and Enterprise. Free tasks run at most once a day in a loose window such as morning. Exact times and hourly runs need a paid plan.
Use Lissin when you want to listen
A task's result is written. Lissin researches the subject again before each episode and turns it into audio: "every weekday at 7:30, twelve minutes on European energy policy and battery storage, with the sources listed". You hear it in the app on a commute or a walk.
Run both if you need both
The two do not conflict. Keep a ChatGPT task for the alerts that need action, and a Lissin show for the subjects you want explained at length.

Questions
- How many scheduled tasks can I have in ChatGPT?
- OpenAI's help page lists 3 active tasks on Free and Go, 5 on Plus, 10 on Business and Edu, and 15 on Pro and Enterprise. Paused or finished tasks do not count, so pause one to make room.
- Can a ChatGPT scheduled task speak the result?
- OpenAI's help page lists voice chats among the things scheduled tasks do not support. A task posts its result in a ChatGPT conversation and sends a notification.
- Can Lissin remind me of things or watch my inbox?
- No. Lissin has no reminders and does not watch your inbox or Slack for new messages. You can connect Gmail so Lissin uses it as context for your episodes, but it does not notify you when a message arrives.
What this does not do
Lissin does not replace a task's reminders, alerts or app-event triggers, and it cannot take an action for you, such as sending a message. What it makes is audio: spoken episodes, and songs as a separate format. Creating a show needs an iPhone on iOS 26 or later, and daily delivery is on paid plans. An episode is written from what is published when it runs, so check names, dates and figures before you act on them.
