Spotify Personal Podcasts or Lissin: private episodes in Spotify, or a show you can share
Spotify's Personal Podcasts beta makes short, private episodes for US Premium users. Lissin makes shows up to 25 minutes that you can share as a link. Compare them.
The short answer
Spotify's Personal Podcasts, in beta for eligible US Premium subscribers, turns a prompt into short, private episodes in your Spotify library, daily or weekly if you like. Choose Lissin when you are outside the US or not on Premium, want episodes up to 25 minutes, or want to share one as a link. Creating a Lissin show needs an iPhone.
How to choose
If you have Premium in the US, try Spotify's first
In the Spotify app, open Create, choose Personal Podcast and write a prompt. You can add text, PDFs or links, pick a voice and schedule new episodes daily or weekly. Premium includes a monthly allowance, and Spotify sells more. If short private episodes next to your music are all you want, you do not need another app.
Do not confuse it with Studio
Studio by Spotify Labs is a separate desktop app for macOS, a research preview that began a gradual rollout in July 2026 to Premium users aged 18 and over. Its agent can work across your browser, files, email and calendar to make audio, and the results play in Spotify. It is a different product from the Personal Podcasts beta in the phone app.
Use Lissin when the episode has to go further
A Lissin episode runs 5 to 25 minutes depending on plan, can arrive daily, on weekdays, weekly or every two weeks, and can be written in 25 languages. Each one lists its sources, and you can share it as a web link that plays in any browser, which Spotify's private episodes do not allow.
Write the request the same way
A prompt that works in one works in the other: "Each weekday at 7:30, twelve minutes on European rail strikes and anything new on the Eurostar timetable, then one story about trains from history." Add the pages or files you want used; uploading files needs Plus or Pro, and on Free you can paste the text instead. Lissin researches the web again for each episode, so it picks up what changed since the last one.

Questions
- Can I use Spotify Personal Podcasts outside the US?
- Spotify's August 2026 update described it as rolling out to eligible Premium users in the US. Check the Create menu in your Spotify app; if Personal Podcast is not there, it has not reached your account.
- Can I put a Lissin episode in my Spotify library?
- No. Lissin episodes play in the Lissin app or from a shared web link, and a personal show has no RSS feed to add to Spotify.
- Does Lissin use my Spotify listening history?
- No. It works from what you describe and the sources you add, so name the subjects you want covered instead of relying on your taste profile.
- Can someone else listen to an episode I made?
- In Lissin, yes: share the episode's link and it plays in any browser without an account. Spotify says Personal Podcasts are available only to you.
What this does not do
Lissin does not live inside Spotify, does not play music from Spotify's catalogue and does not learn from your Spotify listening, so describe everything you want covered. Creating a show needs an iPhone on iOS 26 or later, and daily delivery is on paid plans. Episodes are written from public web sources and the material you add, so check names and figures against the original before you rely on them.
