Your right nostril is linked to your body's gas pedal—the sympathetic nervous system. Last time, we used the steady rhythm of box breathing to find our center. Today, we work with each side of the body directly, creating a deep and lasting balance. Find a comfortable, upright seat. Allow your eyes to gently close.
Bring your right hand up toward your face, and fold your index and middle fingers down to touch your palm. Your thumb will close your right nostril, and your ring finger will close your left. Take a full, deep breath in through both nostrils. And exhale completely. Now, gently close your right nostril with your thumb.
Inhale slowly, through your LEFT nostril. Close the left nostril with your ring finger. Both are closed. Hold the breath at the top. Release your thumb. Exhale slowly through your RIGHT nostril. Now, inhale through your RIGHT nostril. Close the right nostril with your thumb. Both are closed. Hold the breath. Release your ring finger.
Exhale slowly through your LEFT nostril. That is ONE full round. Continue this pattern on your own. Inhaling left... exhaling right. Inhaling right... exhaling left. Allowing the breath to be smooth and quiet. No strain. Simply balancing. This practice is called Nadi Shodhana. It is designed to harmonize the two channels of your nervous system… the active, energetic side and the calm, restful side.
When you feel scattered or stuck, this breath brings you back to the middle path. It doesn't just create calm. It creates equilibrium. A true reset. Now, complete the cycle you are on, finishing with an exhale through your left nostril. When you are done, release your hand down. Breathe naturally through both nostrils.
Notice the quiet. The stillness at your center. This balance is now yours to carry forward.
