The longest-held breath on record is twenty-four minutes and thirty-seven seconds. In our last session, we found a steady rhythm, a way to reset. Today, we use that rhythm not just to find calm, but to build energy. So find your seat. Or stand. Feel your feet on the floor, a solid connection to the ground beneath you. Let your spine grow tall, shoulders relaxed down and away from your ears.
Close your eyes if that feels right for you. Just for a moment, notice your breath as it is. No need to change it. Simply witness the quiet rise and fall of your chest. Now, we’ll invite a new rhythm. A gentle, energizing wave. We will breathe in through the nose for a count of four, a brief pause at the top, and then exhale through the mouth for a count of six.
A longer, slower release to carry away anything stale. Let’s begin together. Exhale everything you have right now. Get empty. And… inhale, two, three, four. Pause. And exhale, two, three, four, five, six. Again. Inhale, feel the belly expand first, then the ribs… two, three, four. Pause at the peak. And exhale, letting it all go… two, three, four, five, six.
One more, together. Inhale, bright energy filling you up… two, three, four. Hold it. And a slow, controlled exhale… two, three, four, five, six. Now, continue on your own for a few more rounds. Your count, your rhythm. Feeling the cool air as it enters, noticing the warmth as it leaves. Each breath is a conscious choice to build alertness.
This isn't passive. You are actively creating the state you want to inhabit today. When you're ready, let the counting go. Allow your breath to return to its natural, easy rhythm. Just notice. Notice the space you’ve created inside. The quiet hum of energy in your body. The clarity behind your eyes. This feeling isn't something you found.
It's something you built, one breath at a time. Carry it with you.
