let your eyes close and feel the weight of your body right where you're resting tonight mhmm last time we welcomed restful sleep with that slow steady drift and tonight we're gonna stay right here in this quiet room together the evening has come in soft honey you don't have to carry it all before breakfast and you surely don't have to carry it to bed just notice the cool air coming in through your nose feel the warm breath slipping back out into the room
there is nothing you need to fix about how you breathe your chest rises on its own like a quiet hymn nobody had to rehearse as that breath leaves you let the day go with it let your forehead smooth out baby let the tight corners around your eyes soften like sugar melting in warm tea drop your shoulders down away from your ears
they carried enough bags and enough trouble since the sun came up unclench your hands resting your palms open on the sheets feel your back sinking into the mattress heavy and safe let your hips settle and let your legs grow limp all the way down to your toes every heavy thought you carried today is turned into feather and smoke mhmm sit with that a minute baby
the room is still the work is done whatever was left undone can wait for tomorrow's mercy right beneath your breathing is a deep abiding quiet no hurry lives here no demands can reach you in this space you are resting under a wide and gentle sky
let yourself sink a little deeper into the dark sweet quiet of this night you gave what you had to give today and that is plenty now let the night hold you soft and warm go on to sleep honey rest well
