A single neuron in your brain can connect to ten thousand other neurons. In our last time together, we practiced releasing the weight of the day. Tonight, we’ll use that incredible, vast network in your mind... not just to release, but to build. To create a place of your own. So find your way into a comfortable position. Lying down, supported by your bed. Allow your eyes to gently close.
There is nothing else for you to do right now. Nowhere else to be. Simply arrive here, in this moment. Begin by noticing your breath. Not changing it. Just noticing. The gentle rise of your chest or belly as you breathe in. The soft release as you breathe out. Each breath is an anchor. Bringing you more fully into your body. More fully into this quiet space. Now, bring your awareness to the feeling of your body.
Notice the points of contact. The weight of your head on the pillow. The length of your back against the mattress. The heaviness of your arms and legs. Feel the support beneath you. Holding you completely. You can let go. You can allow yourself to be held. Scan your body for any lingering tension. Perhaps in your jaw. Allow it to soften. Let your tongue rest gently in your mouth.
Notice your shoulders. Let them drop away from your ears. Feeling a sense of release spreading down your arms... all the way to your fingertips. Let your hands be soft. Your fingers gently curled. Your body knows how to rest. You are just giving it permission. Now, in the quiet canvas of your mind, we will begin to create a place. Your own personal sanctuary. This place can be anywhere.
Real or imagined. A sun-drenched beach with gentle waves. A quiet cabin in a snowy forest. A hidden garden filled with fragrant flowers. Or maybe just a single, perfect room, filled with soft light. There is no rush. Allow the image to form on its own. What do you see here? Notice the colors. The quality of the light. Is it the warm glow of late afternoon... or the soft, silvery light of the moon?
What sounds do you hear? Perhaps it is the sound of silence itself. Or the gentle rustle of leaves. The distant call of a bird. The quiet crackle of a fire. Now, notice the feeling of the air on your skin. Is it warm, or cool? Is there a gentle breeze? What textures are here? The feeling of soft moss under your feet. The smooth wood of a comfortable chair. The warmth of a thick, soft blanket.
This is your space. It is perfectly safe. Perfectly peaceful. You are the only one here, unless you choose to invite someone in. It is a place of absolute comfort. Within this sanctuary, find a place to rest. A comfortable spot just for you. Settle in. Feel the deep sense of ease that comes from being in a place made just for you. As you rest here, allow any remaining thoughts from the day to simply drift by.
Like clouds in the sky of your sanctuary. You don't need to hold onto them. You don't need to push them away. Just watch them float on by. Leaving behind only stillness. Only peace. This place is always here for you. You can return to it anytime you need. In the middle of the day, or just before sleep. It is a part of you now. Rest here, for as long as you need. Rest now, in this peace you have made.
