Your body holds over six hundred muscles. And each one can hold onto the memory of a day. In our last time together, we invited our minds to release tension. Tonight, we will give our bodies that same gentle permission. Find your way to a comfortable position. Lying down, if that feels right for you.
Allow your eyes to close whenever you are ready. There is nothing to see now. There is only what you can feel. Begin by noticing your breath. Not changing it, just meeting it where it is. An inhale… and a slow exhale. With each breath out, feel yourself arriving more fully in this space. In this quiet moment.
Let’s begin our journey through the body. Bring your awareness all the way down to your feet. To your toes. On your next inhale, gently curl your toes, tensing the arches of your feet. Hold that tension for a moment. Just notice it. And on your exhale, let it all go. Feel the release. A wave of softness washing over your feet.
Now, bring that awareness up into your lower legs. Your calves and shins. Point your toes away from you, feeling the muscles tighten. Hold. And as you breathe out, release. Let your feet fall heavy and soft. Notice the difference between the holding… and the letting go. Continuing upward. To your thighs.
The large, strong muscles in your upper legs. On an inhale, gently squeeze these muscles. Feel them engage. Hold the tension here. And with a long, slow exhale… release completely. Feel a sense of warmth and heaviness spreading through your entire legs. Heavy… and at ease. Now, bring your attention to your hands.
Gently clench them into soft fists. Feel the tension in your hands, your wrists, your forearms. Breathe in. And as you breathe out, open your hands. Let your fingers uncurl naturally. Feel the energy dissolving from your fingertips. Let this feeling of release travel up your arms and into your shoulders.
So often we hold the weight of the day right here. On your next inhale, gently draw your shoulders up toward your ears. A gentle shrug. Hold them there. And with your exhale, let them drop. Let them melt away from your ears. Creating space in your neck. Finally, bring your awareness to your face.
Gently scrunch your facial muscles. Squint your eyes, wrinkle your nose, tighten your jaw. Hold this expression for just a second. And then… release. Let your jaw hang slightly open. Allow the space between your eyebrows to soften and widen. Let your eyes rest heavily in their sockets. Your whole face, soft and peaceful.
Now, just be still. Your whole body is quiet. Heavy. And deeply relaxed. Notice this feeling. From the tips of your toes… to the crown of your head. There is nothing left to do. Nowhere else to be. You have given your body permission to rest. Now simply allow it.
