Children in London, in just four years, saw their lung capacity catch up to kids living in much less polluted areas. That’s the result of a five-year study that stunned its own researchers, and it's a direct consequence of the city’s Ultra Low Emission Zone policy. It’s woven into the social fabric in a way tobacco never was. You can’t just tell people to quit a platform where their family photos, community groups, and small businesses live. The remedy isn't as simple as "stop using it." And maybe the biggest difference is the market's reaction. The Economist article points this out: investors aren’t panicking. Meta's stock isn't collapsing. There’s a skepticism that this trial will lead to the kind of multi-hundred-billion-dollar master settlement that brought Big Tobacco to its knees.
