In the late nineteen sixties, a researcher named Walter Mischel gave children a choice: one marshmallow now, or two if they could wait fifteen minutes. Decades later, the kids who waited had higher SAT scores, better jobs, and healthier lives. In our last episode, we talked about neuroplasticity — how grounded affirmations can physically rewire your brain. Today, we’re using that same tool for the hardest skill of all: patience. This isn't about just wanting something and not getting it.

This is about the deep, gut-level trust that you are on the right path, even when you can’t see the next step. It’s for the moments you feel like you’re falling behind, or that you’ve made a wrong turn. The feeling that everyone else got a map and you didn't. So today is different. Today, you stop scrambling. You stop forcing it. You stop trying to kick down a door that is meant to open for you at the right time. Instead, you’re going to build the muscle of patience.

You’re going to practice trust. Not blind trust. But a deep, quiet confidence in the unfolding of your own life. Here are five affirmations to carry with you. Say them. Feel them. Let them land. First. For when you see everyone else’s progress and it makes you question your own. When you feel the pressure to hurry, to catch up, to be somewhere you are not. Take a breath and say this: I trust that my pace is aligned with what is best for me. This isn’t an excuse to slow down.

It’s permission to honor your own journey. Your timeline is not their timeline. Your growth has its own rhythm, its own season. Some things cannot be rushed. Your job is to do the work, and let the results arrive in their own time. Trusting your pace is a radical act of self-respect. Second. For when the future feels like a total blank. When you don’t have the answers, and the not-knowing feels like a weight on your chest. This is what Jessica Flint calls a gentle nudge.

A reminder. I am strong enough to embrace uncertainty. You don't need to have it all figured out. You were never supposed to. Strength isn't having a perfect plan. Strength is standing in the middle of the fog, with no map, and trusting that you have the tools to handle whatever comes out of it. You’ve handled everything life has thrown at you so far. This is no different. You are strong enough for this. Third. For the moments you try to control everything. When you’re white-knuckling the steering wheel, trying to force an outcome.

Trying to manage every variable, every person, every possibility. It is EXHAUSTING. So let go. My life is unfolding in its own time. This is about surrender. Not giving up, but giving over. You surrender the need to control the outcome, and instead, you focus on your own actions, your own integrity, your own effort. You do your part. And you trust the larger process to do its part. Your life has a wisdom that your worrying mind can’t access. Let it unfold. Fourth. This one is for when you feel alone in the struggle.

When it feels like you're the only one carrying this weight, and that you have to do it all by yourself. I trust the universe to provide for me in all ways. Call it the universe, call it God, call it the goodness of others. The name doesn't matter. What matters is remembering that you are not an island. You are part of a vast, interconnected web of existence. Help can come from unexpected places. An opportunity, a conversation, a sudden insight. Be open to receiving it.

You are surrounded by support, even when you can’t see it. And finally, number five. This is the reframe. For when the waiting feels like a punishment. When the challenge feels like a roadblock, a dead end. It’s not. Patience is turning this challenge into my opportunity. This period of waiting is not empty time. It’s fertile ground. It’s where you build resilience. It’s where you clarify what you TRULY want. It’s where you become the person who is ready for the success that is coming.

This difficulty is not here to stop you. It is here to prepare you. So. You have your work for today. It’s not about pushing harder. It’s about trusting deeper. It’s the difference between fighting the current and learning how to steer within it. The kids in that experiment didn't just get a second marshmallow. They learned that waiting, when done with intention, is its own reward. Patience is not passive. It is a quiet, powerful force. It is the deep, steady confidence that what is meant for you is already on its way.

You just have to be ready to receive it.
