Before we begin, find a place where you can be still for just a few minutes. Whether you’re sitting upright or lying down, let your body feel supported.

Notice the gentle weight of it. And just take one slow breath in… and a long breath out. A study from UCLA’s Center on Everyday Lives of Families found that for most of us, the single biggest source of daily stress wasn't work, or money… it was managing the sheer volume of our own possessions.

Last time we were here together, we spoke about savoring small joys. But it’s hard to find room for joy when our lives, and our homes, are already full.

We hold on. It seems to be our nature. We collect things, yes… but we also collect thoughts. Old arguments we replay in our minds. Worries about a future that hasn't happened.

Versions of ourselves that we’ve long since outgrown, but we keep their old coat in the back of the closet just in case. And we can feel the weight of it all.

Here’s what that means if you’re carrying something heavy today… it means that tension you feel in your shoulders, in your jaw, is not just from a long day.

It’s the physical echo of a story you’re still carrying. An expectation you’re still trying to meet. A hurt you haven’t yet put down.

We clench around these things, thinking that holding on tighter will somehow keep us safe, or fix the past. We make a fist around a feeling, a memory… and then we forget we’re even making a fist at all.

We just know that our hands ache. Take a moment and just notice your own hands. Are they loose? Are they tight? No judgment. Just notice.

We think that letting go has to be a dramatic act. A great, tearing purge. A final, forceful goodbye where we throw the thing into the fire.

But the truth is much quieter. Much softer. Here’s the part we miss. Letting go isn't an act of force. It is an act of grace. It's not about throwing something away… it's about simply opening your hand.

Feeling the tension in your knuckles… and deciding to soften them. One finger at a time. Until your palm is open. You just let the thing you were holding rest there for a moment… and then, you gently turn your hand over.

You let gravity do the rest. So right here, in the quiet. I invite you to try. Bring to mind one thing. Just one. It doesn't have to be the biggest thing.

A small worry. A lingering frustration from your day. An old, tired expectation for yourself. See it clearly. And now, imagine placing it in the palm of your hand.

Feel its imaginary weight. You don’t have to analyze it. You don’t have to forgive it or understand it. Your only task is to stop clenching around it.

And now, with your next slow exhale… …just imagine turning your palm toward the floor. Let it go. Let it fall away. It was never yours to carry forever.

Notice the space that’s left behind. The absence of that weight. That space… is for you. Peace is not something you find. It is something you make room for.
