So. Find a comfortable position. Whatever that means for you right now. Seated, or lying down. No need to hold yourself in any particular way. Just let your body be supported. Notice the gentle rise and fall of your chest… or your belly… with each breath. In... and out. You don't need to change it. Just notice it. You’re here. The Japanese art of kintsugi uses gold to mend broken pottery. The philosophy isn't to hide the damage, but to illuminate it... making the cracks part of the object's story.

In our last time together, we spoke about finding a sense of belonging. But so often, that search for belonging gets tangled up with a search for perfection. Here’s what that means for you, for me, for most of us. We spend so much energy trying to present a flawless version of ourselves to the world. The perfect parent, the perfect employee, the perfect friend. We hold our breath, waiting to be found out. You can feel it in your body, can't you? That tension. Maybe it lives in your shoulders, pulling them up toward your ears.

Maybe it's a tightness in your jaw... or a knot in your stomach. It’s the physical cost of holding it all together. Of trying to be unbreakable. It’s the voice that says, "not good enough... try harder... do more." And it is EXHAUSTING. We think the pursuit of perfection will lead to peace. That if we just fix that one last flaw, then we can finally rest. Then we can finally feel worthy. But here’s the turn. Perfection isn't a higher state of being. It’s a cage. It keeps you small, and it keeps you striving for a finish line that keeps moving.

The peace you're looking for isn't on the other side of perfect. It's on the other side of acceptance. So here is the invitation. What if, just for this moment, you could lay that burden down? What if the goal was never to be flawless... but simply to be WHOLE? The cracks are not your failing. They are your story. They are proof that you have lived, and learned, and healed. The liberation is not in fixing yourself. It’s in the profound, courageous act of embracing yourself exactly as you are.

Right now. Broken, and beautiful, and whole. That is the real work. And that is where the real peace is found. Here’s what that means for your day. It means you can let one thing be simply... enough. One email can be sent without re-reading it a tenth time. One conversation can be had without a perfect script. One moment of your day can be met not with judgment, but with a quiet, gentle compassion for the beautifully imperfect person living it. Let the gold fill the cracks. As you bring your awareness back to the space around you...

the air on your skin... the sounds in the room... carry this with you. The most beautiful things are not perfect. They are loved.
