Your body makes TWO MILLION new red blood cells every single second. Just last week, we charted the course of the mighty Amazon. Today, you journey down a river that flows inside every one of us… the river of life itself. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to shrink down to the size of a single cell and ride the current. You are ready. The world dissolves into a blur of light… and then… you are IN. Before you lies a rushing, crimson river. This is a blood vessel. You are floating in the plasma, a warm, golden liquid.

All around you, millions of smooth, disc-shaped vessels drift past. They look like tiny, red, squishy rafts. These are the red blood cells. You reach out and touch one. It’s carrying a precious cargo you can’t see: oxygen. Each one is a delivery truck, racing to bring life-giving air to every corner of this vast kingdom. They have one job, and they do it perfectly. Their journey is your journey. But this river is not always peaceful. Suddenly, a strange, spiky shape appears ahead. It’s a bacterium, an invader.

It doesn't belong here. As it tumbles through the current, a shadow falls over you. Something HUGE is coming. It’s a white blood cell. Unlike the orderly red cells, this one is a shapeshifting giant. It flows and stretches, changing its form as it moves. It is a guardian, a soldier. It moves with purpose, hunting the invader. With a final surge, the white cell engulfs the bacterium completely. The threat is gone. The kingdom is safe. But then… the world shakes. A tremor runs through the river.

Up ahead, you see a tear in the wall of the vessel itself. A wound from the outside world! Plasma and red cells begin to spill out into the darkness. It’s a breach! EVERYTHING is being pulled toward the hole. You grip your raft, trying to hold on. Is this how the journey ends? No. Because now, something new arrives. Tiny, star-shaped fragments you hadn't noticed before are swarming to the site of the injury. These are the platelets. They are the emergency repair crew. They rush to the tear, becoming impossibly sticky.

They cling to the edges of the wound and to each other, weaving a net. More and more arrive, piling on, creating a plug. Within moments, the frantic rush of escaping fluid slows… and then stops. The patch holds. The red cells calmly resume their journey, flowing past the brand-new dam as if nothing had ever happened. The silent, tireless work of the body never ceases. You float on, past the quiet repair, a silent witness to the tiny miracles that keep the river flowing.
