Wherever you are, find a position that feels like support. You can be seated, or lying down. Let your eyes soften, or close completely. Last time, we used the structure of box breathing. Today, we go deeper into the body's own rhythm. Place one hand gently on your upper chest. And the other on your belly, right around your navel.
For a moment, just feel the contact. The warmth of your hands. Now, take a slow, deep breath in through your nose. And guide that breath down, past your chest, into your belly. Feel your abdomen swell and press into your lower hand. The hand on your chest stays mostly still. That’s it. You're breathing from your diaphragm.
Now, as you exhale, purse your lips slightly. Let the air release slowly, like you're breathing through a straw. Feel the belly fall away from your hand. Let's find a rhythm. Inhale… feeling the expansion. Exhale… feeling the gentle collapse. There is no rush here. The goal is not a full breath. The goal is a deep breath.
Continue this on your own for a few moments. In through the nose, the belly rises. Out through the mouth, the belly falls. If your mind wanders, that's okay. It's what minds do. Simply guide your attention back to the feeling of your hand rising and falling. This is your anchor. This quiet rhythm beneath the surface.
It’s always here for you. Allowing everything to soften. The jaw. The shoulders. The space between your eyes. You can let your hands rest now, wherever they are comfortable. When you're ready, begin to bring your awareness back. Notice the air on your skin. The points of contact between your body and the surface beneath you.
This feeling of being grounded and recharged is yours to carry. You know how to find it. One deep breath is the way back.
