Just five minutes of deep diaphragmatic breathing can lower your cortisol levels by up to twenty percent. Last time, Admin, we used the four-seven-eight count as a tool to reset. Today, we go deeper, to the very mechanism that powers that calm. Find a comfortable position. Seated, with your spine tall but not stiff.

Or lying down, feeling the support of the surface beneath you. Close your eyes if that feels right for you. Now, place one hand on your chest. And the other on your belly, just above your navel. For a moment, just notice your breath as it is. No need to change anything. Simply feel the movement under your hands.

The rise and fall. Now, let's change where the breath goes. On your next inhale, I want you to send the breath down, past your chest, and into your belly. Feel the hand on your belly rise. The hand on your chest should stay relatively still. Breathe in through the nose… filling the belly. And now, a slow, gentle exhale through the mouth or nose.

Feeling the hand on your belly slowly lower as your navel draws back toward your spine. Let's try that again. A slow, deep inhale… into the belly. The lower hand rises. The chest is quiet. Hold for just a beat. And a long, slow, complete exhale. Letting it all go. Releasing. Again. Inhale. Feel the abdomen expand like a small balloon.

Gentle. Easy. Exhale. The balloon softly deflates. All the way out. Until you feel empty. Now, let your awareness travel. As you continue this rhythm… belly rising on the inhale… falling on the exhale… notice your jaw. Is it clenched? Let it go slack. Allow a little space between your teeth. Notice your shoulders.

On your next exhale, let them drop away from your ears. Feel their weight release downwards. The breath is your anchor. The body is softening around it. One more full breath here. Deep into the belly. Feeling that expansion. And a full, complete release on the exhale. Emptying out completely. You can let your hands rest now, in your lap or by your sides.

Keep the breath low and slow. This is your natural rhythm. This is your body’s baseline of calm. You are not creating it. You are simply returning to it. This quiet is always here, just beneath the surface. This breath is always available. This feeling of being grounded is your own.
