Breathing through your left nostril activates the right hemisphere of your brain. Last time, we used humming to boost nitric oxide. Today, we bring balance to the entire system that nitric oxide works within. Find a comfortable, tall seat. Allow your hands to rest in your lap.

Let your eyes close… or soften your gaze toward the floor. Just arrive here. Noticing the breath as it is. No need to change it. Simply feel the air moving in… and moving out. Feel the support of the ground beneath you. The length in your spine. The space around your head and shoulders.

And now… bring your right hand up toward your face. Let your elbow rest gently against your side. Fold your first two fingers… your pointer finger and your middle finger… down to meet your palm. Leaving your thumb… your ring finger… and your pinky finger extended. This is a posture called Vishnu Mudra.

If this feels awkward… you can also simply rest your first two fingers on the space between your eyebrows. Your thumb will tend to your right nostril. Your ring finger will tend to your left. Take a full, deep breath in through BOTH nostrils. And a long, slow breath out through BOTH.

Now… gently close your right nostril with your thumb. And breathe IN… through your left nostril. Smooth and easy. At the top of the breath… close your left nostril with your ring finger. Release your thumb from the right nostril… and breathe OUT through the right. Slowly.

Completely. Now breathe IN through that same side… the right nostril. At the top… close the right nostril with your thumb. Release your ring finger… and breathe OUT through the left. That is one full round. Let’s continue. Breathe IN… left. Close… and breathe OUT… right. Breathe IN… right.

Close… and breathe OUT… left. Again. In through the left. Out through the right. In through the right. Out through the left. Now, continue on your own. Finding your own rhythm. No force. No strain. Just a smooth, quiet, balancing flow. In through one side. Out through the other.

In through that same side. Out through the first. Allow the mind to simply follow the path of the breath. A quiet focus. A central channel. Complete the round you are on. Finishing with an exhale through the LEFT nostril. When you are done… gently release your hand back down to your lap.

Keep your eyes closed. And just notice. Breathing through both nostrils now. Notice the quality of the air. The quality of your mind. The feeling of stillness. A sense of quiet balance. Center. This quiet is always available to you. You just created it. Carry this balance into your day.
