The human heart doesn't beat like a metronome; the time between each beat is always changing. That natural variation is a sign of a healthy, adaptable nervous system—the very system we worked with last time using deep, diaphragmatic breathing. Today, we use a specific rhythm to bring your body into a state of powerful coherence.

So find your position now. Seated upright, or lying down. Whatever allows your spine to be long and your body to be supported. Allow your eyes to gently close. Begin by just noticing your breath. Not changing it. Not judging it. Simply feeling the air as it enters and leaves your body. The practice today is simple.

It's called Coherent Breathing. The goal is to find a rhythm that brings your breath and your heart into sync. For most people, that resonant frequency is about five or six breaths per minute. We'll aim for that today. A five-second inhale, followed by a five-second exhale. The key is to make it one continuous, smooth motion.

Like a gentle wave washing in... and a gentle wave washing out. No pause at the top of the inhale. No hold at the bottom of the exhale. Just a steady, circular flow. Let’s begin. First, gently exhale all the air from your lungs. And now... breathe in... two... three... four... five. Breathe out... two...

three... four... five. Inhale... two... three... four... five. Exhale... two... three... four... five. Breathing in... smooth and easy. Breathing out... letting it all go. In... two... three... four... five. Out... two... three... four... five. Allow the breath to drop deep into your belly. No need to force it. Let the movement be soft.

Effortless. Inhale... two... three... four... five. Exhale... two... three... four... five. Just this rhythm. This simple, steady pace. In... two... three... four... five. Out... two... three... four... five. And now... for the next few breaths... let the counting fade away. See if you can maintain this rhythm just by feel.

Trusting your body's innate intelligence. Feeling that smooth, circular motion. Noticing the quiet space this rhythm creates. This state of coherence is not something you were given. It is something you created, right here. It is yours. When you feel ready... you can bring some gentle awareness back to the room.

Maybe a small movement in your fingers or your toes. Slowly, gently, opening your eyes. You carry this rhythm with you.
