Your body holds the entire story of your day in its muscles and bones. Last night, in our time together, we welcomed a gentle nightfall. Tonight, we’ll listen to the story your body has written… and help it find its final, quiet chapter. So find your way to a comfortable position. Lying down, if that feels right for you. Let your arms rest by your sides, your legs settle.

There is nothing else you need to do right now. Begin with your breath. Simply notice it. The air entering your body... and the air leaving it. No need to change it. Just feel the gentle, steady rhythm. In... and out. Each breath is an invitation to soften. To arrive more fully in this moment. Now, bring your awareness to the very top of your head. Feel the skin of your scalp.

Can you allow it to soften? Let that feeling of ease move down into your forehead. Smoothing out any lines of effort. Let the small muscles around your eyes release. Let your eyelids rest, heavy and calm. Allow your jaw to unclench. Let there be a little space between your top and bottom teeth. The tongue can rest gently in the bottom of your mouth. So much of the day is held right here.

Let it go. Follow that feeling of release down into your neck and your shoulders. Imagine your shoulders dropping away from your ears... melting down and away. Let the weight they have been carrying all day simply dissolve. This softness flows down through your arms. Through your biceps and elbows... your forearms... all the way to your hands. Notice your hands.

Are they curled tight, or are they open? See if you can allow your fingers to gently uncurl. Resting. Bring your attention now to your torso. Feel the gentle rise of your chest with each breath... and the soft fall. Feel your belly, and allow it to be soft. This is the center of your body. Let it be a center of peace. Notice your back, and where it connects with the surface beneath you.

Feel the support. Feel how the floor or the mattress is holding you completely. You don't have to hold yourself up anymore. Let your spine release. This wave of relaxation now moves into your hips. A place that works so hard. Let them feel heavy... grounded. Let the muscles of your thighs let go. Then your knees... your calves... your ankles. Finally, bring your awareness all the way down to your feet.

Feel your heels resting. Feel the soles of your feet. And let your toes relax. Every part of you is now invited to rest. For a moment, feel your entire body at once. From the top of your head to the tips of your toes. Held in this stillness. Bathed in this quiet. There is nowhere else to be. Nothing else to do. The story of the day has been told. And now, it is complete.

Your work is done. You are at rest.
