Begin by finding a comfortable position for rest. Lying down, if that feels right for you. Allow your body to settle into the surface beneath you. Feeling its support… holding you completely. In our last time together, we invited a gentle nightfall… a practice of releasing the day to find restoration. Tonight, we will welcome that same sense of quiet, moving even deeper into rest.

Bring your attention, now, to your breath. Simply noticing the gentle rhythm of your inhale… and your exhale. There is no need to change anything. Just feeling the air as it enters… and as it leaves. Each breath, a quiet wave washing through you. Now, bring that gentle awareness all the way down to your feet. To the very tips of your toes. Can you feel them inside your socks, or against the air?

With your next exhale, invite them to soften. To let go of any holding. Let this feeling of softness spread to the soles of your feet. Releasing all the steps taken today. Letting the arches relax. Allowing your heels to feel heavy… sinking gently into the surface below. This gentle wave of release now flows up into your ankles… your shins… and your calves.

Any tightness from the day is invited to melt away. Your lower legs feel warm… and heavy… and at ease. Your awareness travels to your knees… and then up into your thighs. Large, strong muscles that have carried you through the day. Give them permission now to rest completely. Letting go of all effort. Feeling them become heavy… soft… and still. Bring your focus to your hips… your pelvis… the center of your body.

Allow this area to feel grounded… sinking deeply into the support beneath you. With each breath out, release a little more. Notice your lower back… your middle back… and your upper back. Feeling every point of contact. Allowing your spine to rest in its natural curve. Let the muscles along your back simply… let go. Your awareness now rests on your belly.

Feeling its gentle rise on the inhale… and its soft fall on the exhale. No need to hold anything in. Just a soft, breathing belly. Let this softness travel up to your chest… and to your heart space. Feel your shoulders. Invite them to drop away from your ears. Let them melt downwards… releasing any burdens they may have been carrying. This feeling of release flows down through your arms… past your elbows… into your forearms… your wrists… and your hands.

Your fingers may be gently curled, or open. Simply allow them to be. Heavy… warm… and still. Now, bring your awareness to your neck and your throat. An area where tension can often gather. Invite softness here. A sense of openness and ease. Let your jaw release. Allowing a small space to open between your teeth. Let your tongue rest gently in your mouth.

Feel the muscles in your cheeks soften. The delicate muscles around your eyes… letting go. Your eyelids resting lightly. Your forehead becomes smooth… and wide. Finally, bring your awareness to your scalp… and the very crown of your head. A feeling of peaceful stillness. For a few moments, just rest here. Aware of your whole body. Breathing quietly.

Held. Supported. At peace. There is nothing left to do. Nothing to figure out. You have arrived in this moment of quiet. There is nowhere else you need to be.
