The human body has over six hundred muscles. In our last time together, we invited a sense of renewal as we drifted into calm. Tonight, we’ll visit the body with that same gentle intention, offering release as we prepare for rest. Find a comfortable position. Lying down, if that feels right for you. Allow your eyes to gently close. Begin by noticing your breath.

Just as it is. No need to change it. Feeling the gentle rise and fall of your chest or your belly. The air entering your body. And the air leaving your body. With each exhale, an invitation to let go. Letting go of the day that has passed. Its conversations. Its tasks. Its thoughts. They are complete. Now, bring your awareness to the very top of your head.

A sense of softness at the crown of your head. Allow that softness to flow down into your forehead. Smoothing out any lines of effort. Letting your eyebrows soften. The small muscles around your eyes can release. Your jaw can hang heavy. Perhaps your lips part slightly. Letting go of any holding in your face. Bring your awareness to your neck and your shoulders.

This is a place where we often carry the weight of the day. On your next exhale, imagine that weight simply melting away. Shoulders dropping away from your ears. A feeling of release. A feeling of ease. This softness now flows down both of your arms. Through your upper arms. Your elbows. Your forearms. All the way to your wrists, your hands, and your fingers.

Your hands can be soft. Fingers gently curled. Heavy and warm. Bring your attention now to your chest and your upper back. Feeling the gentle movement of your breath here. With each breath, a little more space. A little more softness. Allow this awareness to travel down into your belly. Letting the belly be soft. Receiving the breath without any effort.

Feel your lower back releasing into the surface beneath you. Letting go of any tension. Feeling fully supported. Awareness moves into your hips. Your pelvis. Heavy. Grounded. Still. This gentle wave of release now flows down through your legs. Through your thighs. Softening the large muscles here. Flowing through your knees. Down into your calves and your shins.

Releasing your ankles. And finally, arriving in your feet. The heels are heavy. The soles of your feet are soft. And each toe lets go. Now, for a moment, feel your whole body at once. Heavy, soft, and still. Breathing gently. There is nothing to do. And nowhere to go. Simply being here. Resting. The day is complete. May your sleep be deep and restoring.
