Settle into your space. Find the position that feels most restful for you right now. The day is now complete. There is nothing left to do. Nothing to solve. Nowhere else to be. Simply arrive here. In this moment. In this breath. Bring your awareness, gently, to the sensation of your breathing. Don't try to change it in any way. There is no right or wrong way to breathe.
Just notice. Notice the air as it enters your body. Cool and clean. And notice the air as it leaves. Soft and warm. Each breath is a simple, natural rhythm. A gentle rise… and a gentle fall. Like waves on a quiet shore. Ebbing and flowing. If your mind wanders, that’s okay. That’s what minds do. Simply notice where it went… and then gently, without judgment, guide it back.
Back to the feeling of your breath. This breath, right here, is your anchor. An anchor to the present moment. A place of calm. With your next exhale, imagine you are releasing the day. Letting go of any conversations… any lingering thoughts… any unfinished business. They can all dissolve with the out-breath. Breathing in… there is only the breath.
Breathing out… there is only release. Letting go. Now, bring this same gentle attention to your body. Notice your jaw. Is there any tightness there? On your next exhale, allow it to soften. Let your teeth part slightly. Let your tongue rest in your mouth. Guide your awareness to your shoulders. They carry so much throughout the day. With your next exhale, invite them to drop.
To release their load. Feeling them grow heavy and soft… sinking down into the surface beneath you. Allow this feeling of softness to spread. Down your arms… into your hands. Let your fingers uncurl. Let your palms be open and at rest. There is nothing left to hold onto. Just this gentle rhythm of the breath. Flowing in… and flowing out.
Each exhale is an invitation. An invitation to go deeper into stillness. Deeper into quiet. The work is done. You can simply be. Resting here. Safe and calm. The quiet is here for you now. Let the breath carry you into sleep.
