The average person has over six thousand thoughts every single day. In our last time together, we focused on letting go, piece by piece. Tonight, we bring that same gentleness to the constant flow of our minds. So find your way into a comfortable position. Lying down, perhaps.

Or seated with support. There is nothing you need to do right now. Nowhere else you need to be. Simply arrive. Here. In this moment. Let’s begin with the breath. Noticing the gentle rise on the inhale. And the soft release on the exhale. In… and out. No need to change a thing. Just noticing.

Bring your awareness to your body now. Feel the points of contact. The places where you are supported. The back of your head. The weight of your shoulders. Allowing them to feel heavy. Supported. Feeling the jaw soften. The tiny muscles around your eyes releasing. Each breath is an invitation.

A chance to let go just a little bit more. And now, we turn toward the mind. Those six thousand thoughts. Perhaps the day is still playing out. Conversations… tasks… worries. They may feel loud. Or urgent. That is okay. We are not here to fight them. Or to push them away. That only creates more noise.

Instead, we will simply watch. Imagine you are sitting on the bank of a gentle, slow-moving stream. Each thought that arises is a single leaf floating on the water’s surface. You see a leaf appear. You can acknowledge it. "Ah, a thought about work." And then… you let it continue its journey downstream.

You do not need to jump into the water to grab it. You do not need to follow it. You simply watch it drift by. Another leaf appears. A memory. A question. You notice its color, its shape. And you let it go, too. Drifting… floating… moving on. Some thoughts will be stickier than others.

They might try to pull you in. That is the nature of the mind. When this happens, be gentle. Simply notice that you have been carried away. And then guide your awareness back to the bank of the stream. Back to watching. Back to stillness. Each time you do this, you are strengthening your ability to choose where your attention rests.

You are not your thoughts. You are the one who is aware of the thoughts. The quiet, steady presence that watches them come and go. Notice the space between the thoughts. At first, it might be just a tiny gap. A fleeting moment of quiet. But as you continue to watch the leaves float by, the space begins to grow.

A little more room. A little more ease. This is the space of inner quiet. It has been here all along. Underneath the noise. Stay here, in this quiet space, for a few more moments. There is nothing to figure out. Nothing to solve. Just the simple sensation of being. The gentle rhythm of your breath.

The stillness within. As you drift toward rest, carry this feeling of space with you. The stream continues to flow. But you can remain on the shore. Resting in the quiet peace you have cultivated. There is nothing more to do now but rest.
