The average adult takes over twenty thousand breaths each day. Last time, we invited a deep stillness into the muscles of the body. Tonight, we find that same stillness within the breath itself. So find your comfortable place for rest. Allowing your body to settle into the support beneath you.
There is nothing you need to do. Nowhere you need to be. Simply begin by arriving. Right here. Right now. And bring your awareness, gently, to your breath. Noticing its natural rhythm. There is no need to change it. No need to control it in any way. Simply observe. Feeling the gentle rise and fall of your body with each cycle of breath.
Perhaps you notice it in your chest. A subtle expansion as you breathe in. A soft release as you breathe out. Or maybe you feel it in your abdomen. Rising and falling like a gentle wave. Wherever you feel it most clearly… just rest your attention there. Notice the sensation of the air itself.
The coolness as it enters. The warmth as it leaves. Each breath is a quiet anchor to this present moment. A simple, steady rhythm in the quiet of the room. And now, we will invite a deeper release. Using the breath as our guide. As you continue to breathe naturally… begin to notice the exhale.
That moment of letting go. With your next breath out… just imagine you are releasing a small piece of your day. Any tension held in the shoulders. Any tightness in the jaw. The exhale carries it away. Effortlessly. Breathing in… and as you breathe out… letting go of a thought. A worry. A conversation from earlier today.
You don’t need to analyze it. Or solve it. Just allow the exhale to create space. Each breath out is a gentle invitation to release. Releasing the need to plan for tomorrow. Releasing the habit of replaying yesterday. Each exhale softens you. It quiets you. It brings you deeper into this moment of rest.
Allowing the weight of your body to grow heavier. More settled. The breath flows in… and the breath flows out. And with each cycle… you let go just a little bit more. The space between your thoughts begins to widen. The quiet between sounds becomes more noticeable. There is only the soft, steady rhythm of your breathing.
A lullaby for the nervous system. There is nothing left to hold onto. Nothing left to do. You have given the day back to itself. And now… simply… rest.
