So find a comfortable position. Wherever you are right now. Seated... or lying down. Just allow your body to be supported. Notice the points of contact... the chair beneath you... the floor. Take a slow breath in through your nose. And a long, slow breath out. Let’s just be here for a moment. The average person makes around thirty-five thousand decisions every single day. And as we touched on last time, carrying that sense of warmth and self-compassion through your day requires a certain endurance.
But it's hard to feel that warmth... it's hard to endure... when you're being pulled in thirty-five thousand different directions. Every notification... every headline... every opinion offered by a friend or a stranger on the internet... it's a little tug. A little pull away from your own center. And we get so good at listening to all that noise. We become experts in navigating the expectations and the advice of the outside world.
But what about the world inside? What about the quiet, steady signal that’s been broadcasting underneath all of that static... for your entire life? Let's try to find it. Right now. Bring your awareness back to your breath. Don't change it. Just notice it. The gentle rise... and fall... of your chest or your belly. This rhythm has been with you since the moment you were born. It’s an anchor. It’s a constant. Now, notice the feeling in your body.
Is there a tightness in your shoulders? A warmth in your hands? A feeling of ease or unease in your stomach? You don't need to name it or fix it. Just acknowledge it. This is your body's language. It's speaking to you, all the time. Here's what that means if you're a person just trying to find your way: Your body holds a wisdom that your mind sometimes forgets. It keeps a record. It knows. Here's the thing we get wrong about intuition.
We think it's supposed to be a loud, clear voice... a sudden, magical insight that solves everything. But it’s not. Your intuition is the accumulated wisdom of every single thing you have ever experienced. Every joy... every heartbreak... every mistake... every victory. It's all in there. It's not another voice you have to listen for. It's the quietest one. The one that's left when all the other noise fades away.
It's the feeling you get before you have the words to explain it. Trusting it isn't about finding some new, mystical power. It’s about having the courage to listen to the oldest, most loyal friend you have. Yourself. So here’s what that means if you're facing a choice today... big or small. Before you ask for advice... before you google the answer... before you poll your friends... Just pause. Take one single breath.
And check in. Ask your own quiet center: what feels right? Not what looks right, or what should be right. But what feels true... in your bones. The answer might not be loud. It might just be a gentle nudge. A feeling of peace... or a subtle sense of resistance. That feeling is your compass. Let your only task for today be to notice which way it is pointing.
