A hearing started, full of sound and fury, With practiced outrage from a ten-man jury. They swore the oaths and then began to lie, Beneath a C-SPAN camera in the sky. Oh, what's the plot, and who's the leading man? Is this a farce or part of some grand plan? Another opening, another scene,
The most absurd performance ever seen! We read the script and can't believe the lines, We're looking for the subtext and the signs! It's just another Friday on the Hill, The curtain falls, but we are standing still! By Wednesday, there's a brand new 'gate' in town, A filibuster from a weeping clown. The press corps scrambles for a juicy quote, From an anonymous source who's rocking the boat. A compromise was offered, then retracted, The bill was dead before it was enacted.
They blame the other party, raise the stakes, Forgetting all their previous mistakes. Oh, what's the plot, and who's the leading man? Is this a farce or part of some grand plan? Another opening, another scene, The most absurd performance ever seen! We read the script and can't believe the lines, We're looking for the subtext and the signs! It's just another Friday on the Hill, The curtain falls, but we are standing still! Who wrote this thing? The pacing is a mess.
The character motivations? Anyone's guess. There's no through-line, no hero's noble quest, Just putting our endurance to the test. We need a rewrite, send the author in! Where does this tragic comedy begin... or end?! OH, WHAT'S THE PLOT, AND WHO'S THE LEADING MAN? IS THIS A FARCE OR PART OF SOME GRAND PLAN? ANOTHER OPENING, ANOTHER SCENE, THE MOST ABSURD PERFORMANCE EVER SEEN! WE'VE READ THE SCRIPT AND CAN'T BELIEVE THE LINES! WE'RE BEGGING FOR THE SUBTEXT AND THE SIGNS!
