He’s on the local news? He’s on the local news RIGHT NOW? Last week’s story was all about the drama you can find in a single phone call… I just never thought the call would be coming from inside my OWN house. Okay. Listen to my voice. Do not talk. Do not react. Just listen. What. Is. He. Saying? No. No, that’s not possible. The package was inert. I checked it myself. It was a decoy. It’s a box of… it was a box of paperwork. Old receipts. Are you SURE that’s what he’s telling the reporter?
Okay. Okay. This is fine. This is a wrinkle. We have contingency plans for wrinkles. You are still in the hotel room? Good. Is the door bolted? Do it now. I’ll wait. Right. Now, walk to the window. Do you see a black van? A gray sedan? Anything that looks… official? Nothing? Are you sure? You’re not just saying that? Pull the curtain back an INCH. Okay. Good. That’s… that’s one good thing. Now, the mess. Did you clean up the mess? What do you mean ‘what mess’? The coffee table!
He knocked over the… Of course he did. Okay. Forget the mess. We’re past that now. We are on Plan C. No, we skipped B. B was for ‘subtle.’ We are way, way past subtle. Here’s what you’re going to do. You’re going to take the service elevator. Not the main one. The service elevator, at the end of the hall by the ice machine. You have the key card for it. It’s the blue one. Don’t tell me you mixed them up. You’re kidding me. You are kidding me right now. The red card opens the mini-bar.
The BLUE card opens the service elevator. It’s the whole point! It’s like that job in Marseille, remember? The whole thing hinged on knowing your colors. This is NOT that hard. Fine. FINE. Forget the elevator. The fire escape. Go. NOW. What? What do you mean it’s gone? A fire escape doesn’t just… get up and walk away. Renovations? They’re doing renovations on the exterior of the building. And nobody thought to check this? Oh, this is… this is beautiful. This is a masterpiece of failure.
Our guy, our five-million-dollar asset, is on channel seven describing the contents of a box of worthless receipts as if they’re state secrets. And you… you are trapped in a five-star hotel room because you can’t tell the difference between a key and a COCKTAIL. What did you say? The front desk? What about the front desk? You… called them? For what? Towels. You called for more towels. And you gave them… you gave them your name. No, not your cover name. Your real one.
Don’t move. Stay right where you are. Don’t touch anything else. Just… stand in the middle of the room. They’ll be there in about ninety seconds.
