A tiny wisp of light drifted on the night air. It was the same soft air that Misty the moth rode just last night. She was following a bright moonbeam, wasn't she? This little light wasn't a moth, though. It wasn't a firefly, or a faraway star. It was a dream. A very small, very gentle dream named Whisper. And he was just a little bit lost. Whisper had a very important job to do. He was meant to find a special pillow, inside a cozy room. But a playful puff of wind had nudged him off his path.

Now, everything looked very big, and very different. Tall blades of grass seemed like a forest of green towers. A sleepy beetle rumbled past like a noisy train. Whisper floated onward, over the edge of a garden. The flowers were all tucked in for the night. Their petals curled up tight like tiny fists. He saw a big, velvety rose, fast asleep. In a voice as soft as rustling leaves, Whisper asked, "Excuse me... are you a pillow?" The rose just snored a tiny petal-snore and didn't wake.

So Whisper floated higher. He bobbed up over the sleepy flowers, toward the big, open lawn. And that’s when he saw them. Moonbeams. They were dancing all across the grass, painting it with silver light. Whisper remembered the story of Misty the moth. The moonbeams had helped her on her adventure. Maybe… maybe they could help him, too. He drifted toward the kindest-looking moonbeam. It shimmered with a soft, warm glow. "Hello?" Whisper said, his voice barely a puff of air. "I think I am lost." The moonbeam leaned down.

It didn't speak with words, of course. Moonbeams speak with light. It swirled its silver sparkles into a picture in the air. The picture showed a window, slightly open. Then it showed a cozy bed… and a peacefully sleeping child. That was it! That was the place Whisper needed to be. The moonbeam smiled its shimmery smile. Then it did something wonderful. It lowered its light all the way to the ground, creating a soft, glowing slide. A slide made of pure moonlight, leading right up… up… up… to that open window.

Whisper felt a little flutter of excitement. He wasn't lost anymore. He was on an adventure. He hopped onto the moonbeam slide. Whoosh! He zipped up through the cool night air, faster than the wind, but gentle as a lullaby. The world was a blur of dark trees and sparkling stars below. The slide ended right on the edge of a soft, fluffy pillow. Whisper hopped off. He had made it. He tiptoed across the pillowcase, which felt like a huge field of fresh snow. He found your ear, nestled and warm.

And with one final, tiny, happy puff, he whispered himself right into your dreams. He brought you a story of sleepy roses and dancing moonbeams. So if you feel a little tickle in your dream tonight… a tiny spark of an adventure… It might just be a little traveler named Whisper. He journeyed all this way, just to come and visit YOU. Sleep now. Sweet dreams.
