A single drop of dew can hold the reflection of the entire sky. It reminds me of how our friend Twinkle the Curious Star held so much wonder, just before the friendly clouds tucked him in for the day. Well, this morning, another little friend was just waking up. Its name was Glimmer. And it awoke feeling… perfectly round. It was resting on a big, fuzzy leaf, like a tiny jewel on a soft green blanket.
The air was cool. Quiet. The world was still dreaming. Glimmer just sat there, feeling the gentle curve of the leaf beneath it. It didn't know much. But it knew it was right where it was supposed to be. Then… a light began to grow. A soft pink, then a warm gold, spreading across the edge of the world. The sun was coming. And as it rose, Glimmer saw EVERYTHING. The giant trees that looked like sleepy giants.
The far-off hills. The endless, endless blue above. Oh, it was all so… BIG. And Glimmer felt very, very small. Just then, it felt a little… wobble. A tiny tilt. The leaf was shifting in the morning breeze. Glimmer began to slide. Not fast. Just a slow, steady drift down a long green vein of the leaf. It wasn't scary. Not really. It was more like… a quiet adventure was beginning. Where was it going? It didn't know.
It just… slid. And then it happened. The sun, now fully awake, peeked over a branch and shone its light RIGHT on Glimmer. And for one, breathtaking moment… Glimmer wasn't small at all. Inside its tiny, round self, the whole world appeared. It held the golden sun. It held the blue sky. It held the green of the leaf and the brown of the earth. It was a perfect, tiny universe. Glimmer wasn't just looking at the world… it WAS the world.
The little slide came to a gentle end at the very tip of the leaf. For a moment, Glimmer just hung there, sparkling, full of morning light. Then… plop. A soft little landing. It had fallen from the leaf and landed right in the middle of a shimmering, sparkling crowd. Hundreds of other dewdrops, all gathered together in a tiny puddle at the foot of the plant. They all twinkled and shined, greeting the new day.
Glimmer wasn't alone on a leaf anymore. It was part of a beautiful, glittering family. It was home. And there, all together, they just shimmered in the growing warmth. Safe, and bright, and finally at rest.
