Moonbeam Dreams: Luna’s Gentle Journey to Earth

Every single night, a million tiny moonbeams begin a long journey down to our world. Last night, we followed Flicker the firefly as he danced on the Whispering Wind, and tonight… well, tonight we’re going to follow just one of those moonbeams. Her name is Luna. Luna begins her trip as just a tiny sliver of light, peeling away from the big, bright face of the moon. She doesn't fall… oh, no. She drifts. Slowly, slowly, she floats down through the velvet dark, past stars that twinkle like tiny diamonds scattered on a blanket.

The night is so VERY quiet. Down below, the world is sleepy and soft. Luna glides over a forest, her light making the tops of the pine trees glow silver. She sees an old owl, perched on a branch, his big round eyes blinking slowly. He gives a soft hoot, a gentle "whooo-whooo," as if to say hello, and Luna twinkles back. She passes over a field of sleeping flowers, their heads bowed for the night. Her light kisses their petals, and for a moment, they shimmer with a touch of magic.

She loves this part of her journey—the quiet exploring. She hops from one dark rooftop to the next, like they’re stepping stones in a silent river. One roof is slanted, another is flat. She slides down a chimney—just for fun—and pops out the top in a puff of silvery dust. Whee! Then, she sees it. A window, with the curtains pulled not-quite-shut. A little slice of darkness, waiting for a little slice of light. This is the window she was looking for.

Very carefully, Luna slips through the crack. The room is warm and still. She drifts over a pile of stuffed animals, making a teddy bear’s button eye gleam for just a second. And there, tucked into bed, is you. Your breathing is slow and steady, the soft sound of deep, peaceful sleep. Luna floats down until she is hovering right beside your pillow. She is so, so gentle. She leans in and gives you a tiny, weightless kiss on your forehead.

And with that kiss, she gives you a beautiful dream. A dream of floating on a soft, fluffy cloud that smells like fresh laundry… a dream of sailing on a calm, silver sea, with friendly dolphins leaping by your side. She did her job. Her long journey was worth it. And so Luna waits, a tiny, silent guardian in the corner of your room, keeping watch over your wonderful dreams… until the sun peeks over the horizon to say good morning.
