The short answer
Upload the chapter PDF and ask for teaching rather than reading: the idea explained, then a worked example, then the questions an examiner would ask. Scanned chapters go through OCR automatically, so a photographed page works.
How to do it
One chapter per episode
A chapter is about the right size for ten to fifteen minutes of audio that still says something specific. A whole textbook in one upload produces a survey, which is not what revision needs.
Ask for the teaching shape
‘Explain the concept, then work through one example slowly, then ask me three questions I should be able to answer’ produces an episode you can use twice — once to learn and once to test. This is a different request from ‘summarise the chapter’.
Build a series across the term
Uploading each chapter as it is covered gives you a run of episodes in one place, and the later ones can be asked to connect back: ‘relate this to what chapter four established’.

Questions
- Does it work with a photographed page?
- Yes. When there is no usable text layer, the pages are read by a vision model instead, which handles photographs and scans. Straight, well-lit pages read better than angled ones.
- Can it quiz me?
- It can end an episode with questions and answer them in the next one if you ask for that. It is not an interactive tutor — there is no back-and-forth during playback.
- Is this good enough to revise from alone?
- No. It is good for a second pass on material you have already read, and for the commute. Anything you are being examined on should be checked against the book.
What this does not do
Diagrams, worked equations and anything spatial do not transfer to audio. And a generated explanation can be confidently wrong in ways a textbook is not, which matters more when you are learning something than when you are catching up on it.
