The human heart beats about one hundred thousand times a day. In our last session, Admin, we used the breath to release and build resilience against stress. Today, we use it to find a deeper rhythm… an internal alignment. So let’s begin. Find your posture for today. Seated or lying down. It doesn’t matter. What matters is that you can be still.

Allow your eyes to close. And bring your awareness to the points of contact. Your body against the chair, or the floor. Feel the simple fact of gravity. The weight of you, here. Now, notice your breath. Without changing a thing. Just observe its natural rhythm. The rise and fall. The pace it has chosen for itself in this moment. There is no right or wrong way for it to be.

Simply notice. We are going to invite a new rhythm. A steady, coherent pattern. We will breathe in for a count of four… and out for a count of six. The exhale is longer, an invitation for the nervous system to settle. Don’t force it. Just guide it. Let’s begin together. Inhale… two… three… four. And exhale… two… three… four… five… six. Inhale… two… three… four.

Exhale… two… three… four… five… six. Find the rhythm that works for you. Your count might be faster or slower than mine. The numbers don't matter as much as the consistency. A smooth, steady inhale. A slow, complete exhale. Keep going. In… and out. Noticing the sensation of the air. The coolness as it enters. The warmth as it leaves. Feeling the gentle expansion of the belly and ribs on the inhale.

And the gentle drawing in on the exhale. Allowing the shoulders to drop. Allowing the space between the eyebrows to soften. Letting the rhythm do the work. You are just the guide. The host. Creating the conditions for balance. Now, here is what is actually happening inside you. As you establish this steady rhythm, something remarkable begins to occur.

Your breath rate starts to guide your heart rate. With every inhale, your heart rate naturally speeds up just a little. And with every long exhale, it slows down. When the breath is chaotic, so is this pattern. But when you breathe like this… smoothly and consistently… that wave becomes coherent. A smooth, orderly sine wave. This is a measurable, physiological state.

It’s called coherence. It’s not just a feeling of being calm. It is a state of deep, internal alignment. Your respiratory system, your cardiac system, your nervous system… all beginning to operate in sync. All speaking the same language. The language of rhythm. Feel that. The quiet hum of your own systems coming into balance. A sense of wholeness.

Not something you have to create, but something you allow to emerge. This is your natural state. Stay with it for a few more cycles. In for four. Out for six. The feeling of inner harmony. And now, Admin… you can let the counting go. Simply allow your breath to return to its own natural rhythm. But notice if something has shifted. A sense of quiet.

A feeling of space. This rhythm is yours to keep. You have practiced it. You have felt it. You can call on it anytime you need to find your center. In a meeting. In traffic. Before a difficult conversation. A few conscious breaths are all it takes to remind your body of this state. When you're ready, you can slowly begin to bring some awareness back to the room.

Maybe wiggling your fingers and toes. Opening your eyes when you feel prepared to. You are not leaving this state behind. You are carrying it with you. Your body remembers this rhythm. Trust it.
